About the Business
Senate Gardens | National Capital Authority | The Rex Hazlewood Rose Garden This rose garden is the largest of the Old Parliament House Rose Gardens and the first to be planted in 1931. The rose garden was designed by Rex Hazlewood as the result of a meeting between Robert Broinowski (Secretary of the Joint House Department and Usher of the Black Rod) and representatives of the National Rose Society of New South Wales.

Even though it was a rather cool April day when we visited the roses were absolutely beautiful. If you are visiting parliament house, old or new, it well worth a stroll through these beautiful gardens

Not to come walking. The traffic lights at the Coomonwealth Ave stops pedestrians for 53 seconds without any reason. Nobody seems to care about pedestrians in this area.

A beautiful and secluded formal garden with a calming atmosphere. We stopped and had lunch here while the kids walked around. Great facilities and parking is available nearby.

Pleasant gardens and a short walk from one side to the other. Worth a stroll through the gardens if doing the Parliament House tours, old or new, with the gardens having some lovely flowers at certain times during the year. A few benches within the park, and tennis courts nearby too.
