McCracken Golf Club

Stayed with a Great State voucher, was kind of disappointed, the bed was awful... like sleeping on a rock hard slab... rest of room was nice but there was no information in the room on anything... Would of been nice to have some information on McCracken itself, menu, operating hours but also being that Victor Harbour is a tourist destination maybe some tourism advertising... local restaurants, take away places, cinema, pubs etc... we had to google for everything.Also found the lack of TV options in the room pretty bad considering the era.... Netflix or a Movie channel that you can play at whim is typically standard but not available here.

UPDATE: 14/4/23 - Two day golfing trip. We started at McCracken golf club in the morning and played South Lakes in the afternoon. Next morning, we played Lake Albert at Meningie and finally Tailem Bend.McCracken golf course was in excellent condition. All the bunkers were manicured. The fairways had excellent roll. The largeUPDATE 3/7/22Given that we are in the middle of winter the course was in excellent condition. The fairways had an excellent coverage of couch grass enabling the ball to get good roll. The fast undulating greens were in excellent condition with the ball rolling truly. Bunkers are always well maintained. We met “Rusty”the head greenkeeper and complimented him on the condition of the course. Playing off the back markers offers a real challenge. McCracken is a course you can play all year round. It can be 10 degrees cooler than Adelaide on very hot days and because of excellent drainage it is a great place to play during winter. Cameron in the Pro shop was very welcoming. Always an excellent golfing experience.UPDATE: 11/2/22The weather was excellent as was the condition of the course. The couch fairways had excellent coverage allowing for good roll. The undulating greens were in very good condition. All bunkers were well maintained having just been raked. We chatted with Chris (head greenkeeper) and congratulated him on the condition of the course. A really enjoyable and challenging course particularly off the back markers. Cameron was welcoming in the proshop. We had a great day out. We look forward to our next round.UPDATE: 13/8/21The fairways were in good condition given we are in the middle of winter. There was the challenge of full water hazards. The course is very undulating with many strategically placed bunkers on the fairways and around the greens. All make for a challenging experience particularly off the back markers.The greens are all very undulating and were in very good condition. On the day the greens beat us!! We had a great day out.UPDATE: 15/5/20The world has changed dramatically since our last game……… About a week before everything was closed down. We returned to the course as soon as we were allowed……… It was in excellent condition. The course had received 150ml plus in the last week…….The fairways were excellent, the greens were even better…… Bunkers were being done as while we were playing. Time for everybody to come down south and play McCracken. They need our support. We look forward to our next round. Ground staff were very friendly while we were playing and Ryan was very welcoming in the pro shop.

Always enjoy the meals and views, its a must to stop here.

We went for lunch a few days ago. It was our first time there. The meals were cooked exactly how we liked and the serving size was very generous at a reasonable price. The view over the golf course and down the valley is stunning and will be even more so in Winter when all the countryside is green. We will definitely go back and have lunch/dinner there again.

Nice viewsRooms not clean properlyPhone in room didn't work so I went downstairs to try order food for breakfast and they said I had to call in the morning, I said my phone is broken I can't call and was told that I had to call so I couldn't have breakfast, lunch or dinner.Bed is uncomfortableI tryed booking in early and reception was real rudeTryed putting in a complaint about the room being dirty and the lady at the desk just gave me a funny look and refused to help me
