Most grateful to all the staff who cared for my mother in 2020. They treated her with respect, compassion and dignity. She was a somewhat difficult patient, but they continued to care for her so beautifully. Her transition back to her aged care facility was seamless and they liaised with my father along the journey to ensure he was aware of what was going on. Forever grateful to the Peter James Centre and their tirelessly working staff.

I found this place the most depressing place I have ever been in apart for visiting Germany and seeing concentration camps. I found my mum sitting facing a yellow curtain, I found her half undressed, I found her in her nightie and being put to bed at 6pm, because she had been sitting up all day" yes

I have only been here less than 24 hours into at least a very long stay to be re habilitated. Already the food is far superior to a stay in a Private Hospital where I spent 21 long days. The care also is superior with attitude I had mostly NOT experienced since my accident. They really do care, most of them.Centre though old is very clean with modern equipment. So far so good. Keep up the good work.Second day, even more caring nurses helping.Night staff are men mostly, ultra careful with quick response to the call button. I must mention night nurses Christopher, Grace, Tracey, Julian and Debbie who are outstanding in their overall approach putting the patient first at every turn.... Well done to all.Regarding night staff as days move along.. One staff member needs to give attention to interpersonal relations with grim uninviting presence, poor body language, almost refusal to assist in and out of bed. Frightening when one is dependant entirely on help. A bad experience amongst mostly good ones.Again as the days pass I find a small percentage of nurses just don't measure up to the basic needs a patient expects. Call bell can go unanswered for anything up to half an hour... NOT GOOD ENOUGH. Under staffing is evident causing lag in responding to call button.Janette, as Isabella stated you are a good nurse BUT your unpleasant and sometimes rude body language leaves much to be desired. You need to lift your attitude towards all.

The very worst place I could imagine. If this is what we have to offer as the only care" facility for dementia people having troubles - we have a long way to go.Do anything you can to keep your loved one from this place. Reviews are not my thing usually

Firstly I'd like to mention the wonderful hope that the Peter James Centre and the amazing staff offers to all of it's patients. Hope of an improved outcome, hope of happiness, hope of mobility, hope of productivity, hope of independence, hope for a patient's families/friends and even hope of life. The Peter James Centre has given this hope to many thousands of people since opening in 1985 and continues to give this hope.Today it is not a shadow of it's former self that I experienced 7 years ago, back then the days were filled with a schedule of your specific needs of physiotherapy, hydrotherapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, dietician, social worker, doctor etc all aimed for you to get the best and quickest outcome possible. It is now (through what I believe is an obvious lack of funding), reduced to 1 short daily session of physiotherapy and usually only on weekdays, a visit from the Dr's at least every few weekdays, a rare visit from a dietician or occupational therapist on weekdays and I'm not sure they even have a social worker or speech pathologist anymore as I've not seen any in the 18 daysI'vebeenhere so far. For this I can sadly only award just 1 star.Of particular note is the podiatrist that won't come even if your toenails are so long they are poking holes through your socks and shoes, I was told only if you have an injury to your toe? This 1 small thing would make a patient more comfortable, I believe it could improve walking, standing and even outlook. One of the redeeming things is the absolutely amazing job the Dr's, nurses, tea and coffee services, cleaners, porters and food services staff do. They are all a credit to their area of expertise and I applaud them one and all. For this I've awarded an extra 3 stars. An honourable mention goes to the food which I found to be of good quality, taste and choice. The building facilities and layout are to be as expected with a build date of 1985 and whilst the condition is generally in good repair, it could really use a freshen up.They all do a great job of trying to help people here get a good outcome but I feel that a lack of funding is the glaringly obvious cause of falling short of excellent. One thing more, 1 ply toilet paper, really, I mean really, 1 ply!

This rehab centre has to be the world's worst centre in history. My Grandmother was moved to there for rehab after her radiation treatment and for 3 days nothing was done. Everytime we ask the staff members they say oh we still trynna get to know her and how she is like etc..."We ask when will anything be done and the response is yea

Big improvement since my Aunt was here 3yrs ago. Staff have been sensational to my Mum post knee reconstruction. Professional, kind and attentive. The building is tired and needs some refreshment, but the staff both nurses and the physiotherapy department have been organised and followed up every request and suggestion. Thanks to everyone involved!

Honestly, the aged care psych unit is absolutely the saddest setting I have ever seen. I cannot describe it without disrespecting the patients, so I won't. The Medical Doctors and Psychiatrists are amazing, it's the attitude of the nurses that broke my heart.I will be picking up my father in 1 hour and 8 minutes after he has been here 48 - if you have a family member here; there are other options.

My father in law is in West ward waiting on a transition to a nursing home. I cannot fault the staff here. My father in law is clean, shaved and has his hair combed. The meals are served in a way that he can eat them and he is eating everything that he is given. Any questions I have asked are answered in a friendly manner and despite the fact that the nurses are run off their feet, they always take time to talk to us. There are posts here complaining about the staff. The ratios in nursing facilities are very low and yet the nurses and staff deal with some of the most high needs patients in any hospital setting. Before anyone criticizes the staff, remember that there is only 3 or 4 of them working in the whole ward and trying to be all things to all people. I think they do a bloody amazing job all things considered. The facility itself is quite old, but it is clean and does not have the smell you often find in nursing facilities. The residents seem happy enough and the staff are neatly presented. The food is typical hospital food, but my father in law needs his food served in a particular way (pureed) and it seems nutritious. His breakfast today was porridge, fruit and orange juice. They have morning and afternoon tea along with their main meals. The residents are treated with respect. My father in law certainly has no complaints.
