Shocking ethics – we hired three toboggans that were stolen at Mt Buller later that day. I returned to the shop in the evening empty handed. The conversation with the manger went as followsME: I am willing to pay the charge ($120 )as I understand it’s a business but please can you put stickers on your toboggans to identify your shop so that if it is found it can be returned to you.Manager: I don’t care whose toboggan it is so long as I get a toboggan back. Look around we have toboggans from all kinds of hire shops. That’s how business is on Mount Buller.DO NOT GO TO SCM DISCOUNT SKI HIRE. I am sure there are other businesses with better ethics in Mansfield.

Service is rapid, some of the staff is inexperienced but adequately supervised if no rush. The quality of the equipment for hire is quite used and worn. If you are unlucky when returning, you may be charged an extra $50 for the repair of a lose metal edge on an old snowboard.
