Callum Brae Nature Reserve
A surprising good reserve. I wasn't expecting much, but on a beautiful Autumn morning it was a pleasure to walk. A bit thistlely on the more open parts, but the track that loops around the reserve is an easy walk. There are a few hills, but nothing to demanding. There are a few interesting pieces of Woden history, including views of Callum Brae farm, and, interestingly, three powder magazines (now empty) that used to hold the explosives for blasting at the nearby quarry. Plenty of birdlife, a haven for local parrot breeds, and a few kangaroos.

A great place for a one-and-a-half hour walk. The explosive batteries are an interesting feature.

Fantastic woodland reserve. Came for the Swift Parrots, stayed for everything else :) Shame about the Noisy Miners.

Some of the paths are overgrown with grass and so not well defined... The grass seeds get in your socks and the ants and flies can get really annoying. But perseverance reaps rewards in this interesting walk among Red and Yellow Box which provide hollows for countless native birds. Lots of native flowers as well as the odd thistle.

Nice walk through dry uniquely Australian bush. Lots of ant colonies, cockatoos and galahs, lorikeets, bunnies and kangaroos. Moderate hills with nice view to Narrabundah, but mainly flat walk, will suit small children.

Sensational for bird watching and so close to inner Canberra. Plenty of parking.
