Golden Crown Chinese Restaurant
A little Australian-ised but very tasty food, and friendly service. When we're back in Ballarat on a Sunday, we'll try the Yum Cha. The owner has been operating the business for 42 years and has had the same chef for 38 years. Must be doing something right

Golden Crown Chinese Restaurant
We came here after a big day out at sovereign hill with family.The place hasn’t changed in 24 years but that is a good thing as the lady that runs the place hasn’t either.Service wise the place hasn’t changed and they were busy with great service and the young waitress and waiter were doing the best they could given they were one down in the kitchen.We ordered a tonne of food but the attached photos sort of catch the gist (again apologies as we had started eating and then I grabbed the photos).For Ballarat and for the prices this place is great. But if you’re from Melbourne or the Chinese areas I.e. box hill, Springvale etc. Then you will experience a bit of a change from the flavours you experience.I love this place from my uni days and enjoyed myself, however comparatively this is definitely a good place to go to eat but not the experience you’ll get in the city restaurants.

The old lady there was extremely rude. We placed order and asked for chop sticks. The old lady said you don’t speak Chinese why you need chopsticks? Later Two of us in the group ordered second round of their hot and sour soup as it was great. I had a try and liked it too so I tried to order one for myself. The old lady yelled at me said NO loud and rude, and blamed me didn’t order at the same time. The young lady on the other hand was extremely polite and professional, she came to apologise about the chopsticks issue and the soup issue. However, will not go again. No one shall be yelled at for trying to order more food!

Golden Crown Chinese Restaurant
What a sneaky good restaurant Golden Crown is, looks a little tired and old from the outside but inside was great. We got in quite late in the afternoon (14:30) but the lady that looked after us was fantastic and the kitchen knocked out a really good meal. I had a combo entree which was 3 items and the combo bird's-nest, the meal was really good, super hot and really fresh. We were the only ones there that late in the arvo and sat adjacent to the window, really good spot. I highly recommend and we'll definitely be going back.

I think this place will be either a hit or a miss for people as we had a very different experience to all the positive reviews. We waited a really long time for the food. The food was really salty - combined with the fact that we could not easily get refills for the tea and when we did, the water was cold. It was not great.Ignoring the fact that it was really salty, the food was okay.The wait staff was really polite but again they were understaffed so the service still wasn't great.If anyone wants to try this place, I'd recommend they come off-peak so the wait isn't that long. Also if you're sensitive to salt, tell them to make it less salty. If you're used to more traditional/authentic Chinese food, I'd recommend you skip this restaurant altogether.One good thing: their fried rice was alright.We spent quite a lot of money there but was very disappointed.

Golden Crown Chinese Restaurant
As usual a rather long wait on the food. We were looking for eat in but they were only doing banquet.So we ended up just getting a little takeaway instead as we were going to the movies.The chicken satay sticks was nicer then the beef once, the satay sauce that came with them a little on the sweet side.At least we managed to swing by Coles to get some fruit and drinks before the movie.

Stay Away! ; We ordered here avfew times.Over 90 minute delivery time. Food delivered COLD. Tasteless food and phone staff with attitude. The delivery guy is a creep.Don't bother wasting your money. Order a pizza!
