Lake Ballard Campground
Basic camping area with no set sites. Just turn up and find a spot. Spots right next to the lake will be taken first but there are some nice private spots at the back of the camping area. Best times are sunset and sunrise

A bit of a drive from kal ....almost 2 hours but you stop and look around at other places on the way .... follow the signs ...only 2 of them .. don't stress .. one at Menzies and the other one at the entry of the salt lake plus bitumen road most of the way if you just have car ... easy drive..

Flat expanse with water in the distance. The sculptures are facinating.Stop and look, its awash with wildflowers.

A beautiful spot for the night! Easy dirt road drive in. Sculptures were amazing. Would recommend.

Visited on a day trip in a city SUV. Roads are in mostly great condition and access is 90% sealed. Plenty of parking and some picnic tables in the shade. The lake itself is pretty fantastic, as are the sculptures. It gets pretty windy if you climb the mound, but it's a must see if travelling near Menzies. Also drove up nearby Snake Hill, which is no where near as impressive.

What an amazing sculpture setting. Well worth the drive out from Menzies, 50km north west with only 20km of good dirt road. You need to stay overnight for the best photos

We saw the sunset and the sunrise from a lovely position opposite the lake. The toilet was so clean with paper, rubbish bins and lots of tables to sit at. Climbed the hill to look at such an amazing place.Thank you Shire of Menzies

Lake Ballard Campground
The best free camp ground for quiet contemplation in the gold fields. The Gormley statuettes are just incredible in any light, and the location superb. Menzies shire needs to give more frequent attention to the facilities though. Its very busy and the long drops are shocking. This makes people do there thing in the surroundings. Not good.

Our favourite free camp site in over twelve months on the road! The days were balmy and the evenings clear with diamond studded black skies. The lake has a mystical quality at sunset and the lone central hill presents a short rough climb for further beautiful views over the salt pans. While there is a sameness to the figures dotted sporadically across the sands, they are all unique. We had the campsite to ourselves in early December.*The flies were atrocious! We dragged out the hat nets so we didn’t eat too many!

Great place for camping. Plenty of sculptures to see very spread out so leave yourself a bit of time.
