Franklin Camping Ground

Wow , our first stop after grabing the camper and we were blown away by the view , plenty of space , water , dump point etc , ducks galore , highly recomend .

Saw my first Aurora here! Great spot to view and a chair to sit on while u wait! Worth stopping there or even to camp has some benefits!

Still as good as ever despite price increase. Like Crofts dog show with the huge amount of dog breeds walked around here. All well behaved and friendly. Our Xmas destination for many years now.

A huge thank you to The Palaise and Franklin Township for providing a first class camping spot for self contained vans. At $10 per night...this is a fantastic base to explore the beautiful Huon Valley.

Great level van or RV spots, very nice right on the river. Clean toilet facilities along the public access water front walkway and BBQ and picnic tables. $10 fee and all proceeds goes to the local theatre. Would stop in here again.

Great RV and camping ground supported by the Huon Valley Council. A small fee is collected for overnight stays, to be used for rubbish collection and to support the Palais Theatre Restoration. Facilities include RV dump point, fresh drinking water, sheltered BBQs, picnic tables on the foreshore, toilets and rubbish bins. Facilities are new and clean. Campground is mostly grass with a dirt track running through the centre and has gorgeous views of the river, Egg Islands and the mountains behind. A few metres to the foreshore to join the walking track. Nearby is a playground, cafes, restaurants and a pub.

Great and central to our needs .

A beautiful place managed unfortunately by a very passive aggressive local.One of the only places left to camp cheap in Southern Tasmania without 4WD, would have been happy to pay the $15 to the theatre company who owns the land, however we were very pushily asked to leave because we didn't have a sink or toilet in our van - even though there is public toilets and water available.Collector came at dusk when we had already set up our awning and cooking table, he flatly refused to view my email from the Huon Council which told me I was able to stay here in my camper van as opposed to a self contained caravan. We packed up in the dark and moved to the picnic area car park outside the toilets. Didn't stay for our planned second night.

Right on the river. Small area well marked out. Each site has ample room. Plenty of places to eat on your doorstep.Couldn't fault

For $10 the night it is perfectly located along the river which offers stunning sunset and sunrise. There is a public bathroom but no shower. You also have access to public bbq.This is a very quiet area with a boat ramp.Ducks are all around the place.The owner is collecting the money everyday.There is drinking water.
