A R Irwin Violins

Really helpful. Another shop had told me my grandfather's old violin would need $600 worth of work to be playable by my son. Irwin Violins had a proper look and made an honest assessment - new strings, some tuning, and it's ready to go. I will definitely return here if I need anything violin-related in the future.

I've been to A R Irwin Violins for less than a year and I know for sure, if I ever were to get an upgrade or a repair, I will be going here! There's a distinct welcoming quality in terms of service and knowledge about violins! I love it!

Great service. You may think the guy's a little expensive at first, but for this very first time I use them, I think I should probably pay even more.I bought a Cecilio CVN500 violin on ebay. Like other cheap factory made violins, apparently the bridge and pegs were not properly set up, the strings were too high, so I asked the shop to fix, but only the bridge.The result was incredibly powerful. It is easier and more pleasurable playing with the strings. Also I don't know what happened but after only the bridge set-up, my violin sounded more beautifully and loudly than it was before.Based on this very first time I highly recommend the shop to anyone to fix their violins!!! (I haven't bought any violins from them so I can't say but I believe at least they would be fully set up - probably in the best ways possible - going out of the shop!)

Bought a cello a year ago. Mr Irwin carefully measured my arm length to give me some guidance on purchasing a full size vs a 7/8. He also weighted out all cellos and bows my size available at the time for me to choose. He serviced the cello a few months after the purchase to ascertain everything was alright at no cost (as one would expect for a new instrument purchase). I went back a year later for a spare bow, picked up a re-haired second hand pernambuco with history. Happy customer who is willing to pay for quality and service.

I've been going to AR Irwin Violins for more than 25 years for all of my string-related needs, from buying violins and accessories to getting repairs done on my viola and bow. Allan's knowledge, professionalism and service are highly impressive. The shop is really convenient for public transport and his prices for instruments, services, accessories and repairs are good. It's easy to get ripped off in the string world. That will never happen at AR Irwin Violins.

I love this shop - shopping here is like being in a bookshop or sweet shop full of possibilities. Beautiful instruments, and Alan gives fantastic support and advice.
