Excellent park with lead free area for dogs - rehabilitation programs underway and a habitat of the keystone species - the Grey headed Flying FoxBe sure to do some research to inform yourself of these animals that are critical to the environment before enjoying seeing the endangered and diminishing colony and if your lucky watch their evening fly out,A lot of their roosting trees have been cut down by H H council and residents want them gone but as they have no where else to go in the ever diminishing environment (a migratory species and they were here before European settlement) be sure not to disturb them as they sleep - for saftey NEVER Ever touch a Bat

Great place to see a daytime camp of magnificent grey-headed flying-foxes, or fruit bats, in the warmer months. This is the largest fruit bat in Australia with a wing span of up to one metre. The camp is usually occupied between about September or October thru to May, depending on temperatures. Their numbers are falling significantly so this species is listed as 'vulnerable to extinction'. They are a keystone umbrella species, performing an essential, nocturnal pollination role that no other species provides. If we lose these guys, there will be a cascade of extinction as many thousands of other species need the native forest tree species these guys pollinate and keep healthy.

THE CORRECT NAME FOR THIS RESERVE isRIVERGLADE RESERVE.It is a very very nice place, if weather is good, but if weather changes suddenly, which it has started doing now in Australia and Sydney, like ENGLAND, where we get all four weathers in few hours or a day; there is no shelter abailable. This reserve spans several kilometres and nature tracks and other walks pass through or pretty near to itIn the light of above, we need some shelters along its length. To get the current toilet facilities, I and many others had to lobby for it more than a decade. Now toilets and water fountains are used by many.Still, there is a water fountain near picnic table under the giant tree, not functioning for months. Nobody from authorities, seem keen on making it operational.
