From the outset, Terry provided us with invaluable knowledge and expertise to ensure we had the best design and a good understanding of the financials and everything else in between that needs to be addressed when renovating. Justin took over from the build stage, and again we were showered with time, patience, guidance, expertise and a few laughs throughout the 9 months of our build. No question remained unanswered, and timelines were clear and concerns addressed.The quality of our home is perhaps what sets TJ Bowden apart, simply it looks and feels beautiful to live in. We first contacted Terry when we were about to purchase a Queenslander and needed to understand the extent of the renovation we were about to take on. We’d renovated before, however we had never lived in or renovated a Queenslander.From the first phone call, Terry’s advice, expertise and guidance stood out from the other builders we contacted. He didn’t rush us off the phone, he told us what we needed to think about and he offered to come around and have a look at the property. We immediately felt that we were dealing with someone we could trust.Whilst other builders gave us a ‘ball park’ number on how much they thought our renovation would cost, Terry provided a comprehensive breakdown of costs and took the time to understand the quality of finish we were looking for, so his pricing was accurate and transparent.Justin oversaw the 12 month project and we met on site every week to discuss what had been completed in the previous week and what would be completed in the coming week. Communication was excellent throughout and because of the weekly catch-ups, we had the opportunity to make changes and discuss options along the way. Justin always provided great advice and ensured we could make informed decisions when we needed to.Every person who came on site during the 12 months was amazing. What really stood out for us was the pride everyone took in their work, the quality of work and attention to detail. The team were really focused on ensuring everything was completed in keeping with the style of the property. We often sit back and look at the carpentry over a glass of wine and marvel at how great the team was. I always say that I enjoyed every single minute of it, and it was all because of the builders we chose. We never had to worry what we’d come home to, that decisions would be made without us, or that an unexpected cost would be presented to us. Like father like son! From our initial discussions with Terry about our potential dream renovation to complete handover of project, we were fortunate to have engaged Terry and Justin (T&J) Bowden Constructions. This family run business rests on decades of skills and experience – and a unique eye for the traditional Queenslander. We thank the Bowden’s and all members of their team. What a team they were – polite, respectful, careful and hard working. Warren (Waz) was our main builder on site – but I think ‘craftsman’ is a more appropriate term for him. Warren took particular pride in the work he did and no challenge seemed impossible to manage. This was all part of the Bowden trademark. From beginning to end - a quality finish, no shortcuts and a focus on maintaining the traditional character – as the ultimate goal. We appreciated the regular weekly catch-up meetings with Justin. He was organised and precise with his project updates, always willing to listen to our ideas and explain any changes if they were required. This was our first major renovation and yes, the process was stressful at times. Do we regret it? Absolutely not! A picture tells a thousand words. Our family home has been transformed into what now feels like a permanent holiday destination. Built on strong bones, we now have a beautiful modern Queenslander offering plenty of living space, a central kitchen, new bathrooms and an open plan layout featuring floor to ceiling bi-fold doors and windows to maximise the views. As first time renovators, we were quite apprehensive about undertaking a large old Queenslander renovation. Terry took us under his wing, put us at ease and helped us through every stage of the project - from the initial quotes, to dealing with contractors, to all the finishing touches.Terry and his son Justin always made themselves available to us and answered all of our questions, no matter how small or ridiculous. There was not one instance where one of them did not answer our phone call.Their experience with projects like ours was invaluable and they always had a solution ready. Our house has been completely transformed into a large family home, with the new section blending seamlessly with the old. The character of the original house has been retained and we now have the home we always wanted.And during recent flood events, we are very thankful to have had a quality build!

My wife and I were exceptionally happy with Terry, Justin and the team when we they did a renovation to our house.
