a cute little brunch spot near essendon airport! recommend trying their orange blossom hotcakes - the fruit was super fresh and the staff were very friendly. heads up - they get really busy on the weekends!

I had a fantastic brunch experience at this restaurant! The smashed avo and cauliflower tacos were delicious, and the scrambled eggs in smashed avo were divine. While the lime sirachatta in the tacos was a bit heavy. The sunrise juice was refreshing and the perfect accompaniment. The staff was attentive, and the bustling ambiance added to the experience. I highly recommend this place for a delightful brunch, and I'll definitely be returning for more mouthwatering dishes.

This place is an absolute gem, probably my new favourite brunch spot.Albeit there was a long wait to get a seat, and then another long wait for the food to come, but definitely worth the wait, id wait double the time if i had to because the food was the best ive had in a really long time.We had the chicken burger 10/10 and the seasonal mushrooms 10/10There are plenty of parking spots in front of the place and its easily accessible for wheelchairs.All in all 5 stars

Just what Essendon Fields needed! Friction is nestled in a perfect corner spot allowing lots of sun to shine through as you sit and enjoy a coffee and meal. We visited at a very busy time during lunch on a Friday and even then, we can not fault the service. Tables were attended to promptly, staff were very friendly and the cafe was clean. If you're wanting to avoid the crowds, we'd recommend going in early in the morning or after 1:30pm.They use lots of local and fresh produce and this definitely comes through in flavour. The pancakes were fluffy and we recommend. Coffee beans are St. Ali so can't go wrong.Great for general catch ups, business meetings and family friendly.We had the:- Smashed avocado- Pancakes- Corn and zucchini fritters

Service was very welcoming and fast.Spacious seating area with plenty of natural light.Coffee was very good.I had the steak sandwich with chips was ok. Looking around surrounding tables and other dishes and portion size looked great.I will return again to try other dishes.

Excellent lunch, great service, vibrant atmosphere. The menu makes it difficult to choose something, because it all looks good! I chose a grilled squid salad which came promptly. The salad was fresh and well dressed and the squid was perfectly cooked. They also have a good selection of beers and serve wine by the glass.

Here for breakfast…. I’m in heaven. All meals were tasty and good portion sizes. We ordered biscoff pancakes, French toast, Smoothie bowl & Chili scrambled eggs. The French toast looks massive, but the brioche bread that is made on site is nice & light. Lemon curd is spread between the slices. Nice coffee too. Will definitely return.

Quick service with a satisfying range of food choices often with a little twist. Café has a good vibe and is popular and the owner is attentive. Large serves, well, perhaps we have smaller appetites but my daughter couldn’t finish her burger and I couldn’t finish my Mezze (with bacon). Would go back again.
