Le Bake

Very average basic food at relatively high prices. The place is a bit dirty as well. Also be careful when paying, they often over charge the price, especially when paying by card. I've been there about 5 times and almost every time the price is different (meaning more) for the same items. They often come up with a random figure, never less, always higher.

The sourdough here is the best. Fresh baked with no sugar, no yeast, and no additives. The sourdough is made from a 25 year old culture - definitely a must try! The classic and delicious bahn mi are what keep me coming back. There is also a wide variety of delicious sweet and savory treats. Julie, the owner recommends the banana and blueberry scroll.

Excellent coffee! Such crema from the new WEGA machine, hot and full of flavour! Don't ask for sugar, it's not needed. The pastries are BIG and fresh, and reasonably priced. A tip-top breakfast for less than ten dollars, unusual in these inflated times!!

I've been coming to Le Bake at least weekly for five years, ever since I moved to Sydney. I'm obsessed with their sourdough bread, made fresh daily by Julie, who is incredibly dedicated to her craft and her customers. The bread is not what I expected from a Vietnamese bakery, where I'd normally expect to find the lightest, fluffiest banh mì. (They do that too!) But the sourdough is dense, flavoursome, with a good crust and decent heft. I love the soy and linseed sourdough, which is very light inside and has a beautiful umami crust that toasts up like a dream. As the child of European immigrants this kind of bread is a central part of my everyday diet and I am so grateful to Julie and Le Bake for keeping the tradition going.

Everything here is great. One of the most delicious dishes is the roast-pork roll with crackling. You cannot find the pastry like here anywhere else. Also, the service here is very up to standard with friendly staff. The coffee here is so delicious with skilled and experienced baristas (Anne and Cindy). You guys come and you'll find it true!

Service was exceptional! I only wanted a loaf of bread, but couldn't decide as I was visiting my daughter & we have different preferences. Finally I bought a rye bun, a white loaf & paid. Then the owner suggested a bun for my daughter, said it was the best they bake. So how much do I owe you? Nothing he said. I was overwhelmed by the generosity of people who have had it sooo hard during these Covid times...
