Boulia Stone House
The date of construction, the builders and original owner of the Stone House are uncertain though it is believed to have been built in the mid 1880’s. The external walls of the house are of local sandstone and limestone and under a timber trapdoor at the rear of the house, steps lead down to a small, low ceilinged cellar. The cellar is reputed to have been the coolest place in the town and one story has vulnerable adults and infants sheltering there during severe heatwaves. The house presently contains a variety of artefacts and furniture, demonstrating aspects of early western lifestyle.
