Box Hill CYMHS

This review is for the OUTPATIENT TEAM who provide external on-going support (not the Inpatient Unit Team for critical care who have been wonderful):I wish I'd heeded the reviews here at the start. If you want arrogant and condascending psychologists who will waste hours of your valuable time coordinating, scheduling, telling you about how the program works in long-winded jargonistic communication, yet never actually doing the job of listening to your child, forget this place. We have gone weeks with either no sessions at all or left distressed and planning an emergency admission - which is a completely unnacceptable outcome for a young person in need. In fact, I've come to the conclusion that the mental health program at Eastern Health's is to put desparate kids off long enough that eventually parents will do all the treatment" themselves and hopefully "fade away" over the months it takes for them to settle into actual treatment. Truly apalling listening skills."

A big joke… just an another department of the health system that failed my son…..ABC Four Corners … fading away episode clearly shows how stuffed the system is!

As a parent of an adolescent who was admitted here twice, I cannot rate the staff and facility higher.The genuine level of care provided by overworked and very passionate staff no matter how difficult the situation put our minds at ease to know she was safe.Thank you everyone involved.

Horrible staff.I was diagnosed with anorexia and was admitted here years ago (I decided to write this review after a healthy recovery). The staff allowed to to skip meals even with my diagnoses, and behind my back nicknamed me the porcelain doll" because I was "so fragile and thin I looked like I could break".Truly horrible. Actually do your jobs and help the sick kids

WELL!!!!! I have alot to say about this place it is a JOKE it doesn't help they just look at all the NEGATIVE in everything.It's all about FBT only no help for people that are single or unable to do FBT.They should be there to help people not base it on who can make it or can't it suppose to be a helpful thing for the youth and mental abilities not to be judgemental about everything and then saying if you can't make it as a family then this program is not going to work for and tell you better of getting help from somewhere else.DONT EVEN GO HERE DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH....

I can’t say more that they are amazing. They have gone above & beyond for my 9yo son and our wider family. Lorena is an angel and everyone else so far has also been great. It’s such a relief to get the right support and their 360 offering makes it as easy as it should be. I get everyone has their own experience and have read a lot of negative reviews, but mine has been exemplary. Thank you so much to Lorena and her team.

ive been going to box hill chyms for about 3 years (since 2019) and it has made my mental health so much worse. i originally got reffered for an eating disorder following my hospital admission but then discharged and rereffered. the therapists do not listen to you: they push their ideas onto you and cycle you through the system as quickly as they possibly can. i am called my deadname in every session even after saying my preffered pronouns and name. please do not send your kids here, get them a private psychologist because trust me, its so much better.

After my sister was referred to this service due to depression and anxiety, they made my sister feel even worse, they are irresponsible. Never send your loved one to them if you can. My sister attempted to stop being alive again" thanks to the person who cut off her phone when she called to seek help.I am writing this after my sister is now better after seeing another service. At first

literally just a place for mentally ill kids to dwell in their illness. offers little to no help. some nurses are nice (we dont like fishlips tho x) and they dont even talk to you or give u therapy!!! how fun

Disapponting is putting it mildly. After 18 months of going around in circles we have given up. A program was supposed to have been put in place to assist our daughter in getting back to school. After several months and promises, there has been no action. A professional diagnsosis was also supposed to have been conducted. After several broken teleconferences and no returned phone calls we are going elsewhere. Do not bother with CYMHS Box Hill, you will only get extremely frustrated. Other CYMHS centres may give better service but give this one a miss. We found CYMHS at Ringwood excellent. Maybe give them a try.
