Seems so affordable – it’s a scamIf you’re like us, you are considering East Coast Rentals because they offer really affordable prices. I’m here to warn you so you don’t fall into the scam they are running on so many customers.East Coast Rentals business model involves uncharging customers for almost invisible scratches to make up for the cheap prices they use to lure you in.We rented two cars during our trip in Australia. We didn’t decide to get the insurance because it seemed expensive ($300) and we were willing to take the risk. When we returned our first car, they found a scratch so tiny my mom had to put her glasses on to find it, and a photo barely picks it up. They told us that they’d need to put a $4,400 hold on our card until they could evaluate the cost.With our second car we decided to get the insurance, because we didn’t trust them. When we returned it they again found a minuscule scratch but couldn’t charge us anymore than they already had.I cannot stress enough how small these scratches were. We’ve rented cars many times and never had someone be so nitpicky.Today I got an email back telling us that we will be charged AU $800 for this scratch and I am livid! They seem to be charging me for replacing the front bumper, along with the three days (?!) the car was out of use. Upon looking up their reviews on travel sites, I’ve found several other people who had the same experience.Don’t fall for it. Save yourself money and find another company.

Ordered a outlander SUV or similar online in an an inclusive no excess package for 8 days that was priced well against the competition. Upon arrival we didn't have to wait long for shuttle pickup from Cairns to the depot. Pickup was a little longer than expected due to volume as there was an Ironman competition on that weekend. Handover was simple and painless, and I was pleased to recieve a clean white diesel Hyundai Tuscon with full features and leather. Returning the car was just as simple with no fuss and they had me back at the airport with time to spare. Great experience

I would say 5 stars are for service, shuttle was super fast, we were in and out picking the car up. The car itself was fine and gave us no trouble, it was just a little rough but the price to hire was good. Dropped car off then straight into the shuttle and straight to the airport. All staff were friendly and efficient.Overall experience with East Coast no complaints. We would definitely use their services again.

What a great start to a holiday. This was our first time using East Coast Car Rentals and based upon the service we received it won’t be the last. Having typically always used the usual suspects within the airport I was initially attracted by the simple yet very informative website, then came the value for money and the straightforward structure of the rental agreements. To top it all was the great service. From the efficient pickup at the airport to the amazing welcome when we arrived at the office (which was a very short trip). Thanks East Coast you have a winning formula.

Staff were absolutely wonderful and Very helpful. Shuttle bus Pick up and drop off from airport was quick and efficient. Car was very reliable and clean. I Highly recommend this company when holidaying in cairns. Thank you East Coast car rentals for assisting us to have a truly wonderful holiday.

Good value. About $300 cheaper than airport hire, which I had always used previously.Fast pick-up. Fast 'admin'. Friendly. Efficient.Same with drop-off and return to airport.Obviously need to allow extra time as you are not actually at the airport.Very busy. Seems popular.

Booked easily online, competitive rates. Booked a Kona but on arrival got a Venue. I was initially a little bit disappointed with the change but it was actually an excellent wee SUV and served us well around Cairns.Service from the staff on arrival was excellent.The vehicle itself was basic but clean and in very good condition. Apple Car Play was invaluable.Drop off was quick and easy, staff were once again excellent.I would happily use East Coast Car Rentals in Cairns again.Thanks

We first used East Coast rentals on our last trip to FNQ. Now they have a beautiful new premises nearer the airport and more staff. Of course things still take time, but overall we were very happy with the service and the almost-new vehicle (less than 9000km on the clock at pick-up). The email they sent with booking confirmation contained step-by-step directions to the area the shuttle bus would collect us, with pictures, so there was no misunderstanding where we were supposed to go. The shuttle bus drivers for both trips were friendly and professional. Highly recommended.

Was super busy on the day I arrived, and I had to wait 2 hours for my car to be ready, however staff were very nice and accommodating. Fairly cheap prices compared to other major rental companies also. Would certainly recommend!
