Honest professional opinion from a highly trained and skilled violin makerI visited Yu Jie’s workshop yesterday after making an urgent appointment the night before when I was panicking over a warped bridge.He was very accommodating and put aside time to see me the next afternoon and gave his honest opinion that the bridge doesn’t require straightening as long as it is repositioned at the right angle and talked me out of doing adjustments on my instrument.Before sending me home for more practice he generously allowed me to play on one of his recently completed violin and a better bow. It was such a pleasant and wonderful experience-you know how daunting some string shops appear to a beginners….I learnt quite a bit about polishing the violin and how to choose a bow from this luthier trained at the most prestigious violin making schools in Beijing and Cremona.I strongly recommend his workshop and have full confidence that you can entrust your string instrument to him.
