Gecko Guest House

Fantastic place to stay. So comfortable. Hosts Di and Andrew have an incredible and intricate knowledge of the surrounding area, and are passionate about making your stay enjoyable. If you're fortunate enough to come at Xmas time, you may even get treated to one of Di's famous, and intoxicating Rum Balls. Would definitely recommend this place to stay.

Hosts, Di and Andrew were extremely warm and welcoming, and willing to provide a wealth of information regarding the areas hidden gems, and beyond. The location of the property is within easy walking distance to town, and meticulously clean and comfortable. The shared kitchen area was well appointed with plenty of open space to relax, including a pool and spa. If you are looking for accommodation in Cooktown, we couldn't recommend the Gecko Guest House highly enough. 5/5

We stayed 5 nights at this little gem in cooktown.The hosts Andrew and Di were very caring and helpful. They helped us with our trips and made great recommendations for the area and ensured that we made the best of our time in cooktown. WOW!! Immaculate. Found this amazing place to stay while in Cooktown. Beautiful rooms, pool and shared BBQ area. So clean and cosy. Di and Andrew are lovely.The kids loved it and they couldn't get enough of the super friendly dog. Were given a goodies bag of home made dried mango and yummy cookies for the drive home.Thanks Di and Andrew. We will definitely be back and next time for a longer stay.⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

We had the best stay here! Di and Andrew were so incredibly warm, welcoming and went above and beyond to make sure we had a great stay. Beautiful modern and meticulously clean rooms, pool area and common area were terrific. If hosting a guest house was an Olympic sport Di and Andrew would win the gold medal!

If you ever get the opportunity to book a room in this fabulous piece of paradise, go for it!Every element of Gecko Guest House incorporates subtle style & luxury, including their rooms, quiet spaces, pool, spa and your hosts' gentle, helpful & unimposing hospitality.An amazingly clean, comfortable & immaculately maintained property. Only a small number of guests with just three guest suites. The shared spaces are large, airy & include quiet private nooks where you can relax & read a book from their extensive library, focusing on local history & places of interest.If you feel like a night in, there is a fully equipped kitchen with plenty of room to enjoy the tropical outlook whilst dining.This place really has it all, including hosts that are so kind, informative, helpful and respectful of everyone's space and privacy.I wasn't keen to do this very honest review, as we know it may limit the availability for our future bookings. On the flip side, we must recognise excellence in hospitality & be fair to those injecting the extra energy and effort to always provide this high standard of service. It is also good to share wonderful experiences with other travellers seeking and appreciating excellence.

Excellent excellent excellent! Managers friendly and helped us to book an Endeavour river tour. Accommodation and communal kitchen were clean and all we needed. A great place to stay. A pool on site too. Would recommend a stay here.

This was our first experience at a guest house. Jude and I really enjoyed the comfortable ease that both Di and Andrew have and that this guest house offers. The queen bed was extremely comfortable, the room quiet and peaceful, a must for travellers. The airy shared space with generous kitchen and lounge area is so spacious that guests can easily find an quiet place for themselves if they wish. The pool area too is separate and on a lower level. Perfect spot.

We had a wonderful stay at Gecko Guesthouse. The owners Di and Andrew were really welcoming and informative. The accommodation and surroundings were immaculate and our room was very comfortable and well appointed. We will definitely be staying here next time we are in Cooktown.
