The Holland Foundation

I had the wonderful opportunity to volunteer at the Holland Foundation as part of their job training program which helped me gain so many valuable skills to help me get a job. Not only do they help you learn all the skills to get a job in retail or office administration, they also focus on the soft skills like the work culture in Australia, leading a team and mentoring new volunteers. I’ve also learned so much about interviews and what hiring committees are looking for and what they want to know about you from the way they ask questions. The amazing mentors Grant and Helen are so supportive and wonderful at picking up your strengths and weaknesses and know how to push you to help you improve your skills!

I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to volunteer at the Holland Foundation. The experience was truly inspiring, and I had the privilege of meeting individuals with remarkable stories and goals. Though my time there was short, the impact it had on me will be long-lasting.As a university student, I found the soft skills I gained during my volunteer work to be invaluable. The Holland Foundation enabled me to find my capabilities and sharpen my skills required for work in Australia. As a recent permanent migrant HF was a great place for me to learn skills, knowledge, work ethics and comprehensive on the job training experience. I was given the opportunity to be a part of the volunteer trainee program and although my time was brief as a volunteer, I gained a lot of transferable skills that will definitely help me in my new career! The Holland Foundation is a fantastic place for people seeking jobs but would like to gain some experience while doing something meaningful and beneficial in the process of looking for one.

Holland foundation is an incredible place that provided me with numerous opportunities to learn certain life changing and impactful skills which are not only important for the community but are career oriented too. It is a great place, consisting of amiable members and ever so encouraging mentors. A big thanks to Helen and Grant and all my fellow colleagues out there. It was a fantastic volunteer experience fraught with loads of learning and insight into the work culture. I thoroughly cherish the time I spent there and strongly recommend other aspiring people looking forward to start or improve their skillsets and careers.

The administration and retail training at Holland foundation was an enriching experience. I gained new skills and made many friends. The processes are streamlined, well documented, with everyone friendly and willing to help. Interview tips were provided and I was able to experience real time work environment. Holland Foundation is a unique and special place for me. It is where I got to meet so many wonderful people and I loved working as part of a team of dedicated volunteers in order to complete different tasks. I would definitely recommend volunteering at the Holland Foundation to anyone who wants to help the community, meet an awesome group of colleagues and learn lots of new skills!

I had a chance to volunteer at the Holland Foundation for a month and I am really grateful for this experience. I am especially grateful for the opportunity to try out team leading and although it was quite challenging, I really enjoyed it! This experience helped me to gain more confidence as a team leader and trust that I will manage difficult situations.I will be honest though - volunteering at the HF will probably not be easy. Some days will be tough and you might feel like you are pushed head-first into the ocean but you can't swim. Grant will sometimes push you to your limit so that you would learn (and learn quickly!), evolve and discover your full potential. Growth is not meant to be easy and comfortable but it's worth it. So, I recommend giving it a try and taking everything you need from this experience! There's a great chance that you'll meet really nice people along the way too :)A BIG THANK YOU to Grant and Helen, and all the people I had a chance to volunteer with!

An interesting little Charity Shop. You wouldn't really call it an Op Shop as they sell so many new items, more a fundraising shop that sells a combination of things, old and new. Brought some books and bizarrely 2 little glass bowls that I already have 2 of, but was on the lookout for more. What a find! Good to support.
