Yan Yean Reservoir

Lovely place for a picnic, go to the last pinic area as it is the best, and has the best views. Don't bother with the look out it isn't worth it. Park has clean electric BBQ and toilets.

Visited on 26 December. The good google reviews influenced our drive up there with our dog. The reservoir itself was pleasant to look at.Sadly, and contrary to the reviews, we were shocked at how dirty the park was. There were food scraps, litter, and used coals scattered everywhere. I didnt use the toilets myself, but my travel companions told me it was unsanitary and also had rubbish on the floor. Because of the food litter there are ant trails all over the place.Im curious how there are so many picnic and BBQ facilities provided but no bins in sight! Further, there weren't any signs reminding people to clean up after themselves (neither would this help given the lack of bins).I think Parks Victoria needs to reassess the conditions of this patk and improve the amenities and facilities provided, particularly because it seems like a popular location.

Excellent park overlooking the water reservoir. Got plenty of BBQ cooking places and benches and tables. Lots of trees give shading areas for the picnicers. Got toilet facilities along with plenty of car parks. This reservoir is the first major water catchment of Melbourne. Very nice place.

Beautiful, relaxing spot. Take a picnic, plenty of room for kids to run of some energy.

Beautiful scenic place for family outings and picnics. It would have been 5 stars if not for the deplorable state of the roads. There are massive unavoidable potholes which have undoubtedly caused plenty of vehicle damage over the years. Take your 4WD vehicle.

A nice place to go for a walk. They have set up tables, so can have a good picnic here.

Good place to go out and feel relaxed. If parking at high point, just keep in mind park rangers shut the gates at 4pm. They were kind enough to roam around and let people know that its closing time better take your car to other parking area managed by Melbourne Water, perhaps it remains opened. However, permanent car parking was closed due to some road work there.
