Lake Macdonnell
We have always wanted to come here and it did not disappoint. It’s such an iconic place and the pink lake is a vibrant beautiful colour. The contrast of the blue water really makes it stand out. The road is a dirt path, great photo opp!“Jonique Life” If you find value in our reviews please consider following our social media outlets on Facebook and Instagram as we highlight magical places you can add to your ever growing bucket list.

the highlight of our trip. we drove for more than 8 hrs just to see the stunning, magnificent lake Macdonell and when you go there make sure to have a sneak peak at Cactus beach (but beware of snakes) we saw about 3 black snakes when we went there.

It’s no longer pink. We drove 6 hours just to see the pink lake but it’s not pink at all, not anymore. Not worth it and waste of money to pay for fuel.

A definite must see! What a beautiful natural wonder.. the drive through is just gorgeous and so are the photos. Lots of beaches and nooks around the area, and it leads to a jetty with inclosed shark safety net for you to swim. Beautiful spot and has picnic/ bathroom facilities.

The penong pink salt lake is an incredible place, geologically and beautifully it is a great site to visit and will make a great photo! This stunning view is caused by high temperature salinity and light, a salt loving algae is drawn towards it and creates the pink pigment. at lake MacDonald there are incredible rocks with shells, these shells used to hold small animals that lived on the sea floor and have been caught in the solidifying rock and sandstone hundreds of thousands of years ago.Standing inbetween the two lakes is the coolest feeling, it feels like two half's of your personality and you have complete control, and, standing next to the beautiful rolling waves and the exquisite landscape. This place is definitely a must to see with the amazing lakes and the beautiful beach!
