Fantastic history about Queensland and Brisbane colonial settlement. The guys at St Helena Island Tours do an amazing job bringing the history to life. A great tourist destination and definitely worth a visit if you are in Brisbane. Great views back to the city and suburbs as well

Highly recommend the Cat o Nine Tails Cruises guided tour to St Helena Island. The guides were very informative and passionate and they knew their history of the island and the prison. Every question was answered without hesitation. They were friendly and accommodating to everyone in the group. They also have a courtesy van to help anyone who found it hard to do the walk around the island. One of the best day trips our of Brisbane!

This is a historical prison island. We used a tour operator (Cat O Nine Tail Cruises) to get there. Some areas of the island is only accessible by a guided tour only. Nice island tour with friendly staff. Takes five hours to come back.Parking can be difficult on weekends. So go there early to find a parking space. Bring an insect repellent as there are so many insects. Need plenty of water. If you are not physically fit to walk nearly 3 km consider joining the tour again.

A tour of this National Park is a great way to spend a day. Short boat trip from Manly and onto Mt Helena where you will learn about the island's history and where this little island fits into Queensland and Australian history. The tour leader is engaging and knowledgeable. Wear comfortable shoes, take some water and a hat. Eat the provided lunch under shady trees. Highly recommend the tour.

What an informative day out. The tour staff were not only knowledgeable but also entertaining. The site itself, being steeped in history, was an eye opening experience into the local region. The walk itself, is definitely best done on a day perhaps not in the baking heat of Summer (unfortunate for us), as you will absolutely cop the best if Queensland sunburns. Wide brim hats are recommended along with liberal applications of sunscreen. The provided lunch, optionally purchased when booking, was enjoyable (salad with a roll and some deli meat). Tea and coffee were available. Limited water was also available at lunch, so bring a good supply for each person. At least 1L but preferably 2.

I just finished the sunday tour with Cat-o-nine-tales to St Helena and I'd highly recommend it. The trip included lunch and was guided by a team (dressed in prison attire) of three who explained the history of the island, and told it in a humorous manner.Note that there is very little shade while walking on the island.
