Lythgo's Row Colonial Cottages
An absolutely beautiful and sympathetic restoration. I love historical buildings and our cottage was perfection. Super easy check in, welcoming gifts including wine, fudge, fresh butter and bread along with comfort goodies to make our stay more personal. The port was divine and the bed was scrupulously comfortable. It was lovely to meet the hosts and they definitely go the extra mile to make your stay as comfortable as possible. This was my favourite accomodation during our Tassie adventure - absolutely loved our cottage.

Beautifully restored and tastefully decorated cottages with all mod cons and creature comforts. Fantastically comfortable beds. Laurence and Susan are very welcoming hosts. Lots to do nearby - wildlife sanctuary, great restaurants and lovely countryside.

We had a two night stay here and loved our stay. Lawrence and Susan made our stay just perfect with our goodies basket on arrival, everything we needed for breakfast and a bottle of wine to enjoy at the end of the day. The premises have been tastefully restored and decorated and spotlessly clean. Highly recommend to anyone who wants a lovely weekend away.

Lythgo's Row Colonial Cottages
My wife and I have just returned from 32 days of traveling around the world and I finally have time to express my gratitude to Lawrence and Susan ( and their furry assistants!) , the owners of Lythgo’s Row in Pontville, for a perfect stay in August. Lythgo’s Row was a base for us to explore Tasmania for a future transfer to live in 2023 and after some hectic travel in today’s challenging times through London, Singapore,Sydney and Melbourne it was an island of calm to spend time at their colonial cottages. It started with the welcome basket, a mix of the practical and the delicious!I understand that each cottage is a little different and ours was so lovely, with a mix of traditional architectural details on two floors such as rugged exposed brickwork, flag stone kitchen floors and period light switches but also the modern conveniences of practical heating/ air-conditioning, plush but comfortable king size bed, solid wifi to plan those day trips and a modern, beautiful bathroom filled with light from the garden, fragrant Orana products and fluffy robes! Not only was the accommodation and attention to detail a relaxing change of pace for us, it was also the perfect location to explore the rest of the island, or sometimes just chill while reading a book or sharing a glass of wine. We became very comfortable in such a welcoming environment and it was a sad day when we had to pack our luggage to leave Tasmania, and Lythgo’s Row behind us…. highly, highly recommended.

My other half and I had the most gorgeous stay at Lythgo’s Row when we were on tour round Australia and we were so glad to come to Tasmania. What a beautiful island!! So much to see, eat and drink. I think it might be our favourite place on earth!I also think where we stayed had a lot to with how special our trip was. Lythgo’s Row has a fascinating history and is in the beautiful village of Pontville. The cottage was so luxurious and really cosy. An extremely comfy bed, luxurious bathroom, cosy lounge and lovely welcome amenities (way above and beyond what you would normally expect)It also has a fabulous view of Mt Dromedary, it’s quiet and secluded but also a stone’s throw to fantastic restaurants and pubs.We made the most of their fabulous wine and culture tours and really felt like we saw the best of Hobart and it’s beautiful countryside. What more could you ask for? It’s around 10 mins from MONA and around 20 mins to Hobart. Such a gorgeous setting and Susan and Lawrence are such lovely and welcoming hosts. Would give 15 out of 10 if we could!!!

Lythgo's Row Colonial Cottages
We stumbled across Lythgo’s Row which is in a little town called Pontville, back in June when we went for a drive. It’s only 30 minutes from Hobart and is so close to the Coal River Wine region. We had been staying in Hobart for the Dark Mofo festival. At the time it was being renovated and we thought as we were coming back in October we would stay. We were rapt when we phoned the place and they were open for business. After speaking with Lawrence, we booked in for the weekend. When we arrived he showed us to our cottage, where the heater was on which made it very cosy. The renovations are amazing. Upstairs is the bedroom with a king size bed and large dressing room with enough storage space to unpack. There were even bathrobes and slippers provided. The bathroom was exceptional. It has a heater and heated towel rail with huge fluffy towels. They also had really nice toiletries. To our surprise there was a hamper supplied, all with Tasmanian produce. Fresh Bread for breakfast, locally made Jam, Tasmanian Shortbread, Fudge, Cheese and Crackers and to top it all off a Bottle of Wine. The pub across the road serves meals 7 days a week and there is a magnificent restaurant called ”Twelve Stones” a short walk across the bridge. The meal there was stunning. Highly recommend the “Curried Scollop Pie”. We found out also that Lawrence and Susan run bespoke wine tours as well. He has a Rolls Royce for couples or a luxury Mercedes Mini Van if there are more than 2 people. We didn’t get the chance to do the tour this time, but will definitely be back. They are the perfect hosts and we have no hesitation recommending Lythgo’s Row. Thank you to you both.

Lythgo's Row Colonial Cottages
Gracious heritage cottages with modern comforts and with layers of luxury. Bottle of wine, vintage port and fudge, Tassie shortbread with espresso coffee or a range of teas. Lovely quality Orana toiletries in the bathroom, and a big white bed to sink into for sweet dreams! Lawrence and Susan are wonderful hosts, nothing is too much trouble. Your own car park space. Dog friendly too.

Beautiful bespoke cottage boasting quality furnishings and most luxurious bedding ever! Spotlessly clean, compliments to the housekeeping and their attention to detail. Everything makes for a cosy and comfortable stay in these heritage cottages. Luxury amenities in the bathroom and generous welcome hamper full of lots of goodies including bread, cheese & crackers, jam and even a packet of yummy, buttery shortbread biscuits. Whether sitting in the afternoon sun on the front step enjoying a wine or cosy-ing up to the heater sipping a complimentary port after a days sight seeing, this accommodation has it all. Can't wait to visit again.

Lythgo's Row Colonial Cottages
After staying with my family at Lythgo's Row for 4 nights, I can see why they have so many great reviews. Lovely people and a well thought through and very comfortable place to stay. Frankly they've thought of everything including the BBQ in the pretty shared courtyard behind the cottages which was a big bonus. The cottages were roomy for two people but a bit of a squash for the four of us plus our dog who has to be the centre of everything.Absolutely no hesitation in recommending them, delightful place and hosts.
