Just purchased a strawberry watermelon cake for mothers day. I am always in hunt for new flavours for my cakes and must say I was looking forward to try this cake, but it was a huge disappointment. It IS NOT a cake. Just chunk of watermelone and strawberry with some cream on top. Not much of a cake and very expensive for such a humble taste. So.e may like it but I am definitely not going back. Also, it will be more clear for customer not to call it a cake. It is a paste. Overrated product. At least in my opinion.

Brand power all the way. The brand and look is stronger than the actual taste and quality of the cakes. Enjoyed the experience and giving into the hype but I won't spend $9 on a slice again. The cakes are dry. Definitely try at least once.

The cakes are 5 stars, it dropped a star for me on the pricing and lack of tables and chairs… the strawberry watermelon cake is their signature cake and still the best, but their other varieties are well worth trying also. But at $11 a piece they don’t come cheap.

I've tried most of their cakes and my favourite is definitely the strawberry watermelon cake. Their cakes are tasty but it is expensive, as the cake portion is quite small. I dropped by this time to try the watermelon strawberry latte..it was quite sweet. Prefer the cake version. Wait time for the drinks is quite slow.

Black star’s cake are soft, fragrant, mellow, not too sweet and greasy. The highlight is the watermelon pulp inside. Bite into it and it's sweet and refreshing. A unique taste that has never been eaten anywhere before. The shop has just opened an additional branch on the ground floor at Chadston shopping. Highly recommend

It was my first time to have a cake from Black Star, and I wasn't disappointed. I'm not really a fan of fruit(s) in cakes but their Strawberry Watermelon cake was a delightful treat. The sweetness was just right. The service at their Chadstone store was fast.

Watermelon cake is the best. Eats it fresh. Don’t let it sit in your fridge for too long.I had it so many times, and everytime it reminded me of how wonderfully amazing it tastes.

Black star pastry's flagship product is the watermelon cake. Love it! It's a light cake, not too sweet like many others on the market. And even a person who is not too fond of cakes or pastries could easily eat this kind of cake. Congratulations guys for this original recipe!I also tried other cakes at Black Star Pastry like the lychee, which was pretty good and the mango based one, not so good. Clearly their best product is the watermelon cake.
