The food is nice but honestly the customer service is an enormous put off. We’ve come here a few times and each time our experience is worse. The staff ALL speak with incredibly soft voices and it’s so hard to understand them. I find them to be inefficient and slow. More than once I’ve ordered a focaccia which I’ve asked to be not toasted just cut in half but they disappear to the back to cut it?? Why not just cut in on the bench where no one is using it? It’s not a quick process either and we’re waiting far longer than it should take. Today I ordered a sandwich and the girl was preparing it so I asked another person if I could order coffee (it takes such a looooong time to get coffee here whether it’s busy or empty). I wanted the coffee order to be in so I wasn’t delayed in waiting for all the other orders that were coming through the door. For whatever reason this girl said no and I had to wait for my sandwich to be done??? Back in Easter I ordered an apple strudel and the dough wasn’t cooked through. Pies are good but not worth it if this is the experience every single time.

Pretty poor to be honest. The “croissant “ wasn’t like pastry at all, it was like bread and very heavy/chewy. $10.50 for that. 13.50 for a Reuben which was 99% sauerkraut with barely any beef. Also the Reuben was pre made so the rye bread was soggy from the sauerkraut.

Cute and cosy bakery with extremely friendly and polite staff! The sandwiches here are delicious.Only complain is that whenever I feel like getting a vegan pastry there's never any available whether its morning or just before lunch. So, I hope they'll have enough vegan pastries available for customers at all times because nothing bums you out more than finding out that the vegan options are over!!!!

Stopped at this bakery when we were passing through for lunch, what a lovely, surprise, our pies were hot, coffee delicious, and oh my gosh neenish tarts, my favourite, a rarety these days, of course I could not resist, tasted as good as it looked, all served by a lovely staff member. All in all a delightful bakery.

Extraordinary prompt, friendly service. Best soy latte I've had for years. Raisin toast good old fashioned thick sliced as it should be and served with Tatura butter!!Wife had excellent flatwhite coffee and delectable mince slice.Apple cake the perfect complement to latte.Well done staff and management.Highly recommend this Bakery as essential stop.

We have been going to Hides Bakery longer than I can remember. 3 hours into our journey from home in NSW to visiting family in Victoria. Always greeted by friendly, happy staff, exceptional service and a wide selection of goodies to refresh and sustain us for the remainder of our journey.

I came through Benalla and had this rare strudel with the original dough, it was almost exactly like my Mom used to make it, except we skimped on the almond slivers. It takes an angry woman to beat this dough, lol, and it is sadly so often substituted with puff pastry. Thank you for this moment of delight. - A German strudel lover. ;)

Lovely bakery with great food. My partner and I got the salmon roll and chicken sandwich and a good selection of bakery sweets, everything was really well made and delicious. Staff were very friendly. They also have a toilet on site.
