I wouldn’t recommend purchasing a Daikin Air Conditioner if you live near the coast (85% of Australia). We had 2 Daikins in our house and never had any issues. The Daikin 2.5kW Split System RXS25LVMA was the better performing unit, until one day it just died. The unit was 6 years old so just out of warranty.I contacted Daikin and they said a technician would have to come out – which we paid $110 for and they basically said it was fried and gave broad reasons to why this could have happened from storms, faulty fan etc… The reality was it was working perfectly the day before and our other Daikin Air Conditioner was still working …. So the repair cost was $800 or replacement $1500. I then contacted Daikin to request they come to the party given that no one could confirm why it died overnight and that the product wasn’t lasting only 6 years old. I also commented to them that on the Daikin US website it says that life expectancy is 15+ years. So they initially came back with a 25% off parts offer and also stated that the 15+ years life expectancy was from the US website. However I still wasn’t happy to pay $600-$700 to fix something they will probably break again, I would rather pay more to get a better quality unit from another manufacturer. Daikin then decided to retract the 25% off parts offer stating that the damage was caused by sea air from living near the coast ( 85% of Australians live near the coast) and that I should make my own arrangement to get the unit repaired. Way to make me feel special!! Haha. So we are now in the market for a new unit that is built for Australian conditions from a more reliable manufacturer.
