Watts River Cafe
A wonderful little cafe in the heart of Healesville.We stopped here for Good Friday for a quick bite to eat when driving through.The cafe itself has internal and external seating, clean and spacious it is comfortable overlooking the parkland to the rear of the Main Street of Healesville.Greeted by our friendly and welcoming server in Mel, we sat outside. The menu is specific to local and regional selections of meals from starters to mains. The specials board changes weekly and also has a good selection of meals.We ordered the Smoked trout Salad, the potatoe pancakes with the additional smoked salmon, the smoked salmon dish and the wagyu pie.All meals were sizeable and flavourful with a fantastic combination of texture, taste and seasoning.After our meals we ordered the Kumquat sponge cake. This was delicious with another great combination of sweet and sesame and a perfect texture blend between the sponge cake, wafer and accompanying wafer.When in Healesville this is most definitely a spot to stop for great service, excellent food and all for a reasonable price.Big shout out to Mel for providing excellent service, being engaging and kind, and providing a laugh.

We stumbled on this nice Cafe when staying in Healesville and had a delicious lunch there. Staff were nice and friendly. We were so pleased with the meal that we went back there for breakfast the next morning before continuing on our holiday. Highly recommended, would dine there again when we are next in Healesville.

Fabulous Japanese inspired dinner, tempura prawn entre main was Chicken Katsu that was so tender and juicy.And with a magnificent Creme Brulet with a great mix of fresh fruit.Staff were so friendly and couldn't do enough for my enjoyable night o yeh did I mention I dined with my Service dog that was accepted with open arms.Come on down for a great meal..

Came on a busy public holiday but that didn't stop them providing really friendly service and a quick delivery of mains! Really delicious food. Choice of large outdoor verandah seating or indoors. Tables spaced a good distance apart, not crowded!

We enjoy the Coffee, portugese cake, pudding, Green tea. Staff so friendly and good services. The pudding, she said is most popular there and the taste sweet and sour. But i dont like sour, actually nice combination.

Wonderful inspired delicately cooked food. Super friendly professional staff ~ went out of their way to get a water bowl for puppy. Ate here twice on our weekend on Healesville. I recommend the salmon brekky, the cheesecake and the way sausage roll, but you can't go wrong.

Was able to make a last minute booking online for Mother's Day, which was great.We were seated for more than 30 minutes without any water, and only after notifying a waitress that we have been waiting half an hour were we able to place an order.However it seems this was a genuine mistake on a busy day as the staff were all very friendly, and once we did order the food arrived promptly.We ordered the Mother's Day specials, so this may not reflect the quality of the normal menu. All three dishes (see images!) were presented excellently and tasted great. Tonkatsu was nice and crispy, the lamb shank was very tender, if a bit plain. But still very delicious.All in all a nice spot to visit when it's not too busy with decent food for the price.

A lovely cafe with attentive service and a very warm welcome. The spup of the day was delicious and prettily presented. It was great to have a choice of Japanese dishes as well! It was a bit noisy indoors when I was there, and I found the smell of food cooking became a bit overwhelming. However, it's what you'd expect in a popular cafe! The outside deck at the back was large and tables well spaced. It looked very inviting as it caught the afternoon winter sunshine - however, I wasn't dressed warmly enough to sit outside! Our waitress was kind enough to split our bill... I only tealised afterwards that's not usually possible during busy times. Overall, it was a lovely experience!
