This was recommended to us as one of the 10 best watering holes in Australia. I think that’s a big call but on the day we went it didn’t quite live up to the online photos but I could see on a sunny day how it would be much better. I visited on a overcast drizzly day and made the most of it. The drive from yeppoonis about 30 minutes but about 10 or 15 minutes of that is on a corrugated gravel road with lots of potholes but certainly worth a drive. There are picnic tables and barbecues on site but not a lot of structured shade areas and no rubbish bins but I’m sure that’s part of the national parks focus. The water was crystal clear and upstream and after about a 10 minute trail walk there are some small rapids and wading areas.

Visitor centre is well maintained - toilets, benches, bbqs and grass area. Swimming is incredible! Pick a quiet day and you’ll love it. 900m walking circuit is open, but the longer track is currently closed.Check out more at:@ultimateaussiebucketlist (insta, FB, web)

About 45 minute drive to Upper Stoney Creek from Yeppoon and just over an hour from Rockhampton. There is a grassed day use area with gas barbecues and picnic tables close by to the swimming hole. The water was ice cold and so clear that we could see little fish. There is camping available on the other side of the creek. There are clean toilets. There were some mosquitoes and march flies so come prepared.

This water was magical at Upper Stones Creek in the Byfield National Park so blue and fresh! Great place for a picnic and a nice small walk is there, the longer circuit was closed so hopefully it opens again in the future. Great place to go!“Jonique Life”Follow our journey around Australia on Facebook, Instagram, Tik Tok and YouTube as we highlight wonderful experiences and magical places you can add to your ever growing bucket list.

An oasis place for swimming and camping. Very popular on weekends with locals. Restrooms available. No rubbish bins so take your rubbish home.

Absolutely gorgeous spot to visit! The water was fresh but once you were in it was lovely. There is a main swimming spot but if you walk up the track a bit you can access the stream and have your own little private spot. So lovely to take a picnic lunch and relax.

Beautiful natural swimming hole with a QLD parks campground nearby. The visitor area has toilets and a BBQ. It gets quite busy on weekends and public holidays so get there early if you want the serenity to yourself.
