Steamtown Heritage Rail Centre

Loved it.Fantastic display of old rail history.Colin our guide was an old railway worker and shared some wonderful stories of his time in the railway and the characters he worked with.Fantastic experience well worth the visit.Allow a couple of hours if you love trains !!!

We were there for the Sound and Light show. We enjoyed the video of the history about the steam trains in the area. The light show was good also. Hard to get good photos when sitting in the back row. It would have been awesome if some of the viewing was outside of the carriage.

My heart stopped. I got to touch and even sit in an NSU locomotive. Great place to visit, well worth a tour.

Our son's certainly enjoyed the tour and freedom to go in and out of most of the trains and carriages. The sound and light show however was not really what we expected and unfortunately our children were quite restless throughout the movie and they are usually very captivated by movie. Their attention was lost early on. However for adults the information in the movie was very interesting. The light show is certainly not a Las Vegas show but you watch different coloured lights change to old style train music for a couple of songs.Very friendly and helpful staff and amazing we could bring our dog to both the tour and the sound and light show.

It was great very informative.It is a long tour would suggest to rug up in winter, water and hat in summer.

Great tour, Shirley sure knows her trains. Recommend highly if you love history and trains.

Great place. I am not a train enthusiast but 90 minutes went by very quickly. Very interesting history

Did the light show video tour. Great night and tour guide was great. Video was so good, with some light shows during. Worth a visit.
