Brilliant to have such an historic building (1838) close to Launnie. The house is full of interesting displays giving the history of the building, location and society. The staff are simply brilliant, generously sharing knowledge but leaving you alone to explore the two floors of artifacts and displays. We finished with a delicious home style lunch and cuppa in the tearoom. Many thanks to the foresight of those who ensured this building was preserved for us all and those volunteers who continue to present the building and gardens in outstanding condition.

Franklin house is a great historical building from 1838. It gives a great insight into life at that time. The 2 oak trees in the garden around the property are trees of historical significance and harks back to 1830s when they were planted. They still drop acorn on the unwary! The property is a walk back into time. Great experience and a must see in Launceston. The national trust has done a great job of maintaining the property.

SORRY NOT FRANKLIN HOUSETHIS IS ..HOGARTH FALLS STRAHANWe probably should have taken a brollie or worn a poncho as we walked early in the morning in slight rain You must wear runners it gets slippery underfoot, however there are carpet strips along the pathways ..keep to them ..This walk went deep into the rainforest took 20mins to reach the waterfall Loved it I am not the fitest of people was a bit puffy to start but paced myself had a few breaks to take pictures and enjoyed it A surprise find for us. There are toilets at the carpark

A wonderful glimpse into Tassie's past. Well worth the visit. Take your time and linger on into the federation gardens, hear the echoes of childrens voices long silenced in the upstairs dormitory and the patter of tiny feet in the old school room. Enjoy the architecture, the antiques and explore the old kitchen and stables full of collectibles and memorabilia.
