They ruined it! Ashfield library used to be a wonderful space, it was quiet and had a private study room, along with two quiet group study spaces. The librarians were community members and were friendly and actually knew what they were doing. I don't know if these librarians have been fired or decided to leave, but the only librarian I have been seeing now is an older woman who is rude, bossy, and literally cannot answer a single question without input from her supervisor, who is never present. When I asked about using the private study room she just said I don't know what that is I don't know what you're talking about. And then when I asked who might know, she said I don't know ask my supervisor. Upon asking where her supervisor was, shock horror, she did not know, and requested I wait 10 minutes. I found a seat and waited, only to go back to the woman and learn that the private study room, meant to be used for library guests and for private meetings, is now not accessible, as there is AV equipment that has been placed in there so it can be used as a council meeting room. Why is there a council meeting room in the library? The library is on top of the massive Ashfield Service Centre, surely there are meeting rooms in there, why are they occupying the library now? When I tried to use the study space on the main floor, it was being hogged by two people who were literally shouting their conversation, it could be heard across the whole library, and when I asked the clueless woman at the desk if she could ask them to turn it down, guess what her answer was. «I don't know if I can do that». So I tried to use the study space that was on the same level as the private study room (rest in peace), but all the charging ports have covers on them, and people treat the room like a conversation pit. Additionally, there are swear words graffitied in the bathrooms, and the hand driers turn on randomly making them seem haunted! As someone trying to study for the HSC, Ashfield library is no longer a good space, as once again the council has proven that it doesn't care about community spaces.

Nice environment. Wifi works well.During weekend you need to enter via ashfield mall. Go to L4, head towards woolworths then aus post. Follow sign from there.

I visited this library yesterday for the first time as I needed to print out some documents. I had a personal problem at the time and couldn't concentrate to print the document myself even though the instructions were great. I asked a gentleman for help and straight away he came and helped me which I appreciated.Later in the day I needed to print another document and the female librarian was helpful then too.If I lived locally then this is a library that I would be happy to be a member of. The only downfall is that there is not enough signage to show how to get to to the library and then how to get to the lifts afterwards to leave.

This library is great for my studying needs, the WIFI is good but like some of the other comments there has been a time where I couldn’t connect (but that was once). Ample of seating and study areas unlike nearby libraries that are more popular but you spend ages locating adequate study spaces. I’ve never had an issue with this location and found books on the subject I’m studying. Staff have always been helpful and I come here often.I walk to this location as there’s not much free parking around (Ashfield mall but only for 2 hours).Overall, not a bad library!

The senior lady at the front desk should be trained in good manners and customer services. She seems to be annoyed when one searches or moves books from the shelf and when one ask questions. Internet connection and facilities are good.
