Stehbens Chute & Bottom Pool
To access this section of Yabba Falls requires high competence with rappelling from top of gorge, descending first into Baiyambora Gorge from northern side, then after negotiating around Gate of Heaven, a long second abseil is then necessary to descend to the foot of the Chute and Bottom Pool.To access this section from the bottom, it is best to use the Fishermans Spur route, which is an unmarked trail down the Spur to Yabba Creek then hiking 3.5km upstream, through Gates of Yabba that contains a series of rock pools and massive boulders. The gorge is not to be underestimated. It requires at least a full day with competence, and preferably with a guide who knows the area. But it is rewarding, photogenic, awesome and full of challenge and risk. There is no mobile coverage in the area, so ensure that people in either Jimna or Imbil know your access route and intentions before attempting this challenge.
