Stopped here for lunch and decided while here to go through the museum.Impressive history of the area. Didn't have enough time to get to see everything. There will definitely be a return visit on my next trip north.Good variety of food on the menu. The cafe catered for dairy intolerance which was a surprise. Loved the coffee and food.

This is a large museum with a wide range of items on display. Things were well laid out in order to give the viewer a good idea of usage. My partner and I are old enough to know what another of these were and even used a lot of them.I marked you down as the 1 thing both of us were really keen to learn about, paning for gold had very little on it. The instructions were vague, and we really had no idea what we were doing or even what to look for. This is a practical skill and needs practical instruction. Something maybe that could be improved on.

Of great historical significance, very interesting and with parkland and BBQs co-located, we spent several hours with friends over a BBQ lunch. Amazing!

To be honest, much better than expected. Loved all the collections of things my mother used to have. Bought back so many memories. Also, learnt a lot.The cafe was good. A nice lunch.

What a seriously good collection of artifacts and information about the region. Well done Gympie for celebrating your achievements. Some great memories, which without this museum would be lost to us all. Of note was the wonderful story behind how the Australian Light Horse came to wear the emu feathers in their hats. Without a visit, wouldn't have known that. Keep up the good work and it is important that people keep donating to the collection to keep the towns rich history alive. The café is nice way to unwind before or after the museum. Was pleased we ordered the wedges and sandwich, both enjoyable and a decent portion size. Thanks ladies.

Gympie Gold Mining and Historical Museum
Zero staff available, zero information provided and half the buildings were still closed due to 2022 floods. All the kids wanted to do was learn how to pan for gold but the two staff on were struggling to keep up with the 3 customers that wanted coffee and had no interest in museum customers. 100% self guided and there are a few things kids might be interested in but definitely not worth the $30 admission as you get absolutely nothing for it other than a walk around some old stuff.
