The Sel Smith Watch Centre

Very lovely man, have had some of my watches repaired and changed batteries.Could do with a bit more of organisation as shop is not spacious enough to accommodate and keep things in order.

Would not recommend this business. Sadly our long standing clock maker died and Sel Smith was taking on his unfinished work. We were patient and expected a long wait. It was working, just needed a service. Well almost 8 months and many phone calls and visits to the shop and we picked it up today. This fellow did nothing but whinge about the amount of work he has . Saga of missing parts and damage to the pendulum from spider droppings because he said it was stored in a shed

Ironically, time is not of the essence with Sel Smith Watch Centre on Margaret St. I took my watch in for a battery and 4 small diamantes to be replaced, and was told I could pick it up the following day. I couldn't make it the following day, so I went to collect my watch the week after, only to be told upon arrival that the watch wasn't ready because the diamantes were on order. A phone call would have been helpful so that I didn't waste a trip over there. A couple of weeks later and I still had not heard anything from Sel Smiths. So I called and left a message to find out if it was any closer to being ready. No phone call returned. Phoned again and was left on hold for a few minutes, but alas, my watch was finally ready for collection over 3 weeks later with no courtesy phone call to say it was ready for collection. The owner wanted to argue that they have thousands of jobs and I should come and have a look why they can't phone their customers. That really is not the point and simple customer service was lacking. I won't be taking my business back there and won't recommend them to anyone. Waste of time. ( I'd give no stars, but that was not an option)

Put in 2 watches for a battery replacement, they said it would be 10 minutes... OK I'll come back. Do you want my name and number so you know whose they are when I come back? Nope, it will be fine...10 minutes later I return, not done. I wait, 10 minutes more a man comes out, asks for my name and when I put them in. The tells me, of the guy who served you is on lunch.What watches did you leave?What colour were they?20 minutes later, still haven't returned with my watches.This is the second extremely poor experience with this watch centre. This time I'm leaving a review as it simply is not good. How do you misplace 2 watches in 20 minutes

Replaced my watch band within 10 mins.Good price, quick turnaround, A+ service

Decent watch repair however very unorganised. Dropped off a watch to be fixed was told to come back in a week. Phoned two or three times and dropped in a few times only to take the bloke 10 mins to find my watch every time, no phone call to say it was finished. Recently dropped off a G shock to get a battery replaced, also took over a week with unorganised service.
