Mackay Fish Market

Bought medium king prawns and coffin bay oysters for a lunch we were hosting.Couldn't be happier.They were so tasty and fresh, and had many compliments from our guests.

Good value for money seafood. Great service. We were driving to the Sunshine Coast and they packed the fish for us into eskies with ice for the long trip.

Large range of fish. Friendly service.We asked if the fish was fresh and local, the sever said what does the sign say! They all said fresh…. Even the salmon… which was still frozen.We bought coral trout $90/kg we found to be $10-$15 more expensive in comparison to other local markets.The Coral trout and Red throat emperor was full of bones and scales which was disappointing and had a funny smell, taste and texture to the same fish we have been eating up and down the coast for the last month on our travels.Have not tried the salmon yet. We were told it was the same as sashimi grade as the sushi shops buy it to use as a cheaper substitute.

Fish from these markets was very reasonably priced and fresh. We brought mackerel and it tasted extremely yummy when cooked. Would recommend this place to all fish lovers. Staff were friendly and helpful. What more could you want, besides catching them yourself.

A few local products, so check the lables, some were imported, we got some oysters and prawns anyway, we were at Woolworths the next day and the local prawns were cheaper than here...?Probably have better prices for business customers..
