Deadman Soak

The location featured in Norman Sligo's book Mates and Gold on the authors personal experience and story about the murder of Phil Mack. A remote location I didn't see any other person in between the Goldfields HWY turn off here and the Kookynie Rd, I did see a mallee fowl though and a couple of kangaroos coming in to the soak for a drink and a feed of grass.Before there were roads the prospectors formed their own tracks that they called donkey pads, they led from rock hole to rock hole where water could be obtained. To go North from Coolgardie and Kalgoorlie they would travel up to 90 Mile Goongarrie then to Dead Mans Rocks then Donkey Rocks and Black Gin Rocks.
