Doggy Dogma - Dog Training

I cant recommend Doggy Dogma enough. I watched Molly standing at the gate this morning wagging her tail excitedly because I was taking her for a drive. Once outside my van I asked her to wait, I could see the struggle as she just wanted to leap inside, she waited as I asked. Once I put my things in I lifted her in and off we went. Cars, trucks, bikes, people with dogs went past, she just stuck her nose out the window. Two years ago I dreaded taking her anywhere in the car, she never wanted to get in the car & once in she paced, whined and wee'd at least once but most times twice on a 20 minute drive, she lunged at every vehicle that went past and would charge the windows with bikes and trucks. Molly still gets nervous in some situations, that's fine, Molly and I learn a bit more every day. I could never thank Jen at Doggy Dogma enough for what I've learnt to help my dog be calmer and happier and what I've learnt to understand her. I regularly have moments of Wow, I cant believe this is the same dog as 2 years ago.

I had two problem pooches due to poor socialisation early in their lives and was unable to leave the house with them as they reacted to everyone and every dog. I was so grateful to come across Doggy Dogma. Jen has been very patient with my little guys and I'm very happy to say that they are making great progress with one now graduated from reactive rover and able to control himself around other dogs. They've also picked up some cool tricks along the way! I'd highly recommend Doggy Dogma to anyone who is looking for targeted training for their fur baby. Prices are very reasonable too I might add.

Jen is the best trainer i have come across. She is so patient loving and kind with my boys which is so important to me as my dogs are my family. Jen is also very patient understanding and kind with me, as it is me who needs to learn and practice the training more than my boys. I highly recommend doggy dogma to everyone.

Jen at Doggy Dogma is wonderful, her methods of training really work and even more my dog responds because he wants to not because he fears me. I had tried numerous trainers before Jen but found her flexible approach including classes and in home training not only suited me being a shift worker but also allowed me to address issues in the home.

We have participated in the Puppy school with our little Jug Louie and his manners are coming along smashingly. We have gotten so much useful advice and tips form the classes and plan to go on to the next level to keep Louie nice and sociable. I also can't thank you enough for the wonderful care of Louie over the Easter break. Going away for 5 days was a lot easier knowing that he was in such good care. He misses his doggy mates at your place too I think. Thanks again and Louie will see you at the next round of classes.

Don’t waste your time and money! She hates big dogs! We took our pup there and she kept on making negative comments about a 10 week old pup! She didn’t give the pup confidence or us! If you have a small breed doggy dogma might work for you but overall our pup didn’t learn anything here and nor did we!

Over the last few years I have turned to Jen with all my doggy dramas , shared the good and the bad and is the first person I turn to for advice on living in a multi dog home . The classes are no pressure and each dog gets one on one in each class . The in home visits are really helpful too .

During enrolment there's a list of problem behaviours to tick if you want to address them. We indicated that we have issues with barking, anxiety, destructiveness, neediness, guarding and mouthing/biting, so naturally we assumed they'd be brought up in class. Nope. Whatever you fill out on the enrolment form doesn't matter, you'll learn sit, down, leave it, on your mat/bed, and some basic leash training. By the time you realise nothing you actually needed is going to be addressed, its too late because there are no refunds after the first class attended. Classes are probably fine for people who have never tried to teach their dog to sit before, but now we're just left with literally all of the same problem behaviours and basically paid $235 just to be near other dogs while practising what he was already learning. Jen is lovely, it was just a complete waste of time and money for us, we've given up after 5 classes and just take him to the park to practise instead.

Jen from Doggy Dogma has worked with my dogs and I for a number of years and I highly recommend her. She helped me with a large boisterous puppy who needed really creative solutions to get her to focus - we went from a possible rehoming to having a great dog and a happy owner. I didn't ever think I could be someone with well behaved dogs, but Jen got me there!

Excellent experience for our humans and our doggo. We learnt so much from Jen. Was wonderful to see our little pup blossom. Would definitely recommend Doggy Dogma for new puppy parents. Should we need further training as our pup grows, Jen will be out first call.
