Birkenhead Naval Reserve Playground

This reserve has been hugely upgraded from its previous amenities. Still has the cycle track around the playground minus the pipe tunnel but now has a water play area, tall climbing maze with a enclosed slippery dip at the summit, new swings, plenty of wooden stepping stones and teepees and tall posts for kids to run around them but too tall to climb. A half court basketball court has also been installed which is a hit with our grandies. However the Council has installed a very cheap and nasty basketball ring that just after a few weeks use is showing signs of welding fatigue. SO DON'T TRY SWINGING ON IT! Someone will shortly and probably end up hurting themselves. As I said for a general basketball hoop it is really flimsy. There's undercover seating and BBQ's next to the playground and a set of Aussie rules football goal posts. Toilets are across the vast lawn area so if little Johnny needs to go quickly grab the car and drive around as it would be probably quicker. Such is life.

The park playground could be better but it has footy posts and a basketball area. Also good for dogs. Nice grassy area but overall needs improvement.
