Wonderland Loop
Clockwise is the way to go, starring from the Botanic Garden, climbing the steps fuelled by the breakfast and the sense of adventure. The higher we got the more things I found to admire, the cliff face, trees, clouds and flat top rocks to sit down for a minute and take the views in.The walk along the ridge to the Pinnacle lookout is breezy and the sun bleaches all to shades of grey. The way back looks flat, but the path turns into stairs down a narrow, slowly widening corridor between sandstone slabs. The sights along the hike are truly magnificent and change at every turn. Maybe the loop is more suitable for summer, when there is enough daylight to see it all, not worth rushing.

Must do trek when you visit the halls gap. The terrain was a bit difficult when it is wet but when you reach the silent street will forget all those slippery steps. Pinnacles view was very rewarding and refreshing.

Great circuit walk from Halls Gap via The Pinnacle, The Wonderland & Grand Canyon, Venus Baths via Stony Creek, returning to Halls Gap!

The best hike you can make in the Geriward/Grampians directly starting in Halls Gap. Walking clockwise the hike starts with a steep and sturdy climb after which the path only gradually rises. Along the way you already have good viewpoints on Halls Gap and the opposite hills, but the most spectacular viewpoint is of course the Pinnacle Lookout. You descend first through the magnificent Silent Street (a narrow gorge), then along the Cool Chambers (an always cool cavity), then along or through the Grand Canyon (the second beautiful gorge on this route) and finally along Venus Baths (a eroded slide) to return to the starting point after 700 meters. Enjoy!

You have to be fairy fit to do the loop. Well worth the effort though. I started from halls gap caravan park. Went through Venus baths, splitters falls, Grand Canyon, silent street, then onto the pinnacle which is a fantastic rocky point over looking the valley and down to lake Belfield. That way takes you up the back slope of the escarpment. On the way back you head back down lots of metal steps down the face of the escarpment back down to halls gap. Make a day of it, pack lunch, snacks and drink. Wouldn’t recommend doing it in hot weather cos there is almost no shade on the walk. Take the time to enjoy it. There are lots of weird and wonderful rock formations to see and views over the ranges.
