Merildin Railway Station was built in 1870 and named Mintaro, althought it is some distance from the town of Mintaro.It's purpose was to transport Mintaro slate to Adelaide and all over the world as the slate was ideal for the use of Billiard tables.The Station was renamed Merildin in 1918.It is SA Heritage listed.

Great place to visit as it's a piece of history name of Station though is Mintaro as it's on the plaque on wall.

Interesting historical place to visit. Great location site for photo-shoot, especially in the afternoon/sunset. There is now a fence and locked gate—apparently prvt property—possibly to minimise vandalism—that makes access not as easy as a few years ago.
