Great experience on Kuranda Train on our way back from Kuranda to Skyrail terminal in Cairns.Kuranda Train stops at couple of spots to give you a beautiful view of WaterFalls and Cairns.Compared to Skyrail, I feel Skyrail has a slight edge on Train experience when it comes to seeing views.(Please click Like under my review if it was helpful Or suggest Edit if it needs to be updated) - Thanks.

The train starts from the cairns central station up-to The Kuranda. Its a two hour train ride. You will never get bored along the way because of the scenery! Is it worth it?I will say NO. Because the ticket price is expensive. You are paying the experience always remember that! HeheBut i suggest going up to kuranda village take the Train. Going back to the city take the Cable care. When we visit the village unfortunately the cable car is not available due to severe hot temperate, so we took the bus instead. When you reach the village it self, restaurants and souvenir items can be found everywhere!Highly recommended to all tourist!

Not much to see on a long uncomfortable journey. Gold class was not pleasant. Small seats, no air-conditioning, really bad food. If they ran with steam engines it may have been fun, but smelly diesel engines have no chalm whatsoever.

This is really fun. Takes about an hour in and old train with a few stops on a way up.We did train up and sky-rail back that is worth it but not 'must experience of your lifetime' so If you are time poor or have any other reason - you could skip it but If no dramas at all I would suggest to do the sky rail on the way back.

A great Scenic Railway trip with a picturesque railway station at Kuranda with Tea Rooms and typical facilities. The views from the railway up/down to Kuranda are quite something as well as the history provided on its construction during the trip. The heritage trains themselves are unique, with decorated engines and original features within the carriages. Well recommended!

A must see when visiting Cairns. It was good to see the old heritage station and operating tearoom. The whole journeys on the train was terrific with good narrative. Devonshire tea was fantastic with freshly baked scones with cream.

Kuranda Train StationVisited on 15/7/2022What a lovely station. One that brings back memories of yesteryears travelling. The Kuranda scenic Railway terminates here. The journey from Cairns to Kuranda takes 1 hour and 55 minutes. It is well below the street level of Kuranda township and the Kuranda Skyrail Terminal. There is a small foot bridge over the railway line that connects from the street level to the other side that leads to the bank of Barron River. From the footbridge to the train station, one has to walk down several steps.More to come

Great to walk around but I don't recommend trying the train itself particularly if children are accompanied as it was awfully hot. Cable car is way better.
