WHO DOES THAT?After a bikini line wax treatment, I was convinced by Essential Beauty staff to pre-pay for an IPL treat ment as it was half price. When I voiced my concerns about trying this treatment several years ago, they said the equipment was much better now, so I paid the $200 for the treatment and left. Nobody said anything about terms and conditions.After putting it off for over a month due to my anxieties about the procedure and trying to make online bookings through their website, I finally rang them early one Saturday morning while on the road after dropping my son at tennis and asked if they had any vacancies, to which they did. We established I hadn’t had a ‘patch test’ and they could do that first and then I’d go home, shave then they’d do the IPL a couple of hours later. I was on Central Ave Inglewood and said I’d drive directly there and would be about 10mins, which I did. Due to a couple of traffic lights, I was more like 15-17mins.Once there I was turned away as she said I took too long so they could no longer do the 10 minute patch test. As I didn’t really want to do it anyway, I asked for my money back there and then, to which they flatly refused and I left.Obviously I wasn’t happy about this and didn’t really want to lose my $200, so I went home to do my own patch test (shaving only) with disastrous results…this cemented my anxiety about the procedure as you have to shave first.I contacted them by email a week or two later explaining that I’d been going through an auto-immune diagnosis (ankylosing spondylitis); that I’d previously had an auto-immune related skin disease (Subcorneal Pustular Dermatosis) and was anxious about the procedure and therefore wished to put the money from my half price IPL treatment towards FULL PRICE wax treatment, which I knew my skin was ok with. She politely told me in her email “I’m sorry but we do not provide a refund or exchange of service due to a change of mind.” She also told me “The package was also bought during a promotion and there are terms and conditions attached with that, these are outlined on our website should you wish to have a look through. We hope to see you in the salon soon.”Would YOU go back?Also I searched all over the website (as she did not provide a link) and could not find these terms and conditions anywhere. I remember signing something on the morning I arrived for my patch test prior to being told they wouldn’t do it, but nothing was ever supplied to me. No copy of an agreement – just a cash register receipt the $199 for the service I’m never going to have.For a business that relies on word of mouth (everyone relies on recommendations for their most private parts), good health practises and repeat business from their clientele, I’m dumb-founded why they wouldn’t simply take the money I paid for a discounted service and apply it to a full price service. Craziness right?I sent the email correspondence to the franchisor - with no response. Clearly the attitude comes from the top and this is the level of customer service they recommend to ALL their franchisees.Honestly, with this kind of attitude, would I even trust them to do waxing on me, or would it somehow be like the waitress spitting in my coffee if I complained about the meal?I’ve contacted the ACCC regarding where the Australian Consumer Law stands on this issue and I’ve also contacted Choice Magazine (whom I’m a member of) as I’m sure they’ll be interested in the outcome from the ACCC too.The only outcome I’d be satisfied with now is getting my money refunded.My advice – don’t go to Essential Beauty Bassendean and be wary of all purchasing pre-paid ‘special deals’ from any of the Essential Beauty Salons.No wonder they don't allow reviews on their Facebook page...***UPDATE***As for the 'response from owner' - I already tried that. I went to Essential Beauty Bassendean today for my usual waxing as i couldn't get into my regular Essential Beauty down south. For the same service I always get normally costs $39.95 (which is the price on the price list) I was charged $90.80. I will not be going back there.

Absolutely amazing customer service staff are very friendly and caring. I have gotten all my piercings done here and wouldn’t go anywhere else, the store is very sanitary and organised and their piercing procedures are quick and pretty painless. Staff are well trained and are very through with after care. Highly recommend this store.

I go here for regular leg waxing. The ladies are always super friendly and make you feel comfortable. I am usually always able to get an appointment quickly and the ladies make an effort to fit me in. Definitely my favourite place to go for this service and I will continue going back.

The staff are always happy and helpful. Treatments rooms are always clean. All my appointments run on time. Staff were great with my daughters first waxing a well.

I recently went to Essential Beauty in Bassendean for the first time and had Teri for my beautician. She was fanastic - so thorough and precise :) I thought she was so good, that i sent my Mum in a couple of days and told her to book with Teri.

Teri is a god sent. I'm so grateful for the compliments I recieve on my brows. I'm glad I have somewhere I feel comfortable to go with any body need. Thank you for a lovely experience every visit!

Absolute top experience here with Terri and her team in Bassendean.Hubby goes for backwaxing and says it’s his favourite (and least painful) place to go.Great products and advice too.I had a deluxe facial and Terri was fantastic. I did actually see and feel a difference in my face and neck.Have booked again for another one.This may be a giant conglomeration of salons but each one managed by different people.I can only say that my experience here was fantastic. I usually have a good experience here, however this was not the case on Tuesday morning.I asked if I could get my eyebrows done, the girl on the counter was bubbly energetic and fun, dark hair and bull ring nose piercing.I mentioned I don't like my eyebrows thin and just need a tidy up.When I left I had sperm eyebrows pencil thin. ( I actually have natural eyebrows with a great shape.I look like I'm back in the 80s and am so embarrassed. Be careful of the girl with the bull ring nose piercing, did not listen to a word I said. Lovely girl but feel as though she did my eyebrows as a joke.Never again Bassendean!
