Building a home and value being treated with respect? Then you’d best avoid Emjay Homes. If we could give less than one star, we would.This company has the most woeful communication I’ve ever encountered. Emails that go unanswered for months, phone calls that aren’t ever picked up, issues that are never acknowledged or rectified.We paid for a specific dishwasher to be added to our build. We moved into our build without the dishwasher and were assured it would be delivered shortly after we moved in. We waited weeks, and the wrong dishwasher was finally delivered. We had to move mountains to get in contact with Emjay Homes to notify them of this and we have asked REPEATEDLY for a refund. It’s now been 8 weeks and we are still without our refund, or any acknowledgment of our repeated contact. We have now had no choice but to move the matter to the QBCC.Our lawn was laid on the afternoon that the keys were handed to us. The lawn was brown and deadened and the ground wasn’t flattened. Subsequently our turf is lifting everywhere, if it’s not completely dead. This has been raised with Emjay Homes however they refuse to acknowledge this. We are now funnelling money into a dead and dying lawn.No hole was cut in the cabinetry for our washing machine cables, nor was one cut in our kitchen for the dishwasher (which remains null and void I suppose, given we don’t have one and haven’t been refunded to purchase another).Our back fence was absolutely abysmal and was also thrown together on the afternoon that the keys were handed over. The gap between the fence and the ground was so large that both of our dogs got out. We have had to spend further money fixing the fence, repairing the turf and cutting holes for cables in both the kitchen and the laundry. Not at all satisfactory for the money paid, the time waited or the promises made upon initially signing the contract.This experience has been stressful and riddled with issues since day one. We both routinely comment that we regret choosing Emjay Homes and as such, would not recommend them to anyone. This business is very, very poorly run with no interest in customer satisfaction or rapport. The minute they’ve got your money, they drop all communication and you’re left in the dark for months at a time.Do yourself a favour and go elsewhere. Truly not worth the hassle; you deserve far better for your money.

While the build process of our new home was amazing, the staff friendly and the build time fantastic I cannot say the same about the post-completion service because they already have your money.One the day we moved in, the tv antenna wasn’t plugged in inside the ceiling cavity, we had shorting power points in our 2yr old sons bedroom and the front door barely opened due to sap seepage and we had cabinetry missing - not incomplete - completely missing.4 years later we are still fighting to have things fixed properly, we also have water damaged walls due to poor tiling, we have leaking mixers still leaking and we have cabinetry falling apart from poor construction. We have we have had other trades come and fix their roofing faults that they could not find anyone to look at and when we call, office meetings are far more important. Emails do not get replied to and any type of communication is ignored or met with pathetic attitude. Dozens of phone calls that go unanswered so they don’t have to fix the problems with the properties they build.What went from a good experience, is now very quickly becoming further action to ensure their contractual obligations are met. I’d not recommend to go with Emjay anymore. Even one of the brothers that started the business doesn’t work there anymore. We’ve had Matt here a few times out of goodwill because he was involved in the original build process

I have had my Emjay home for 2 years now and I cannot fault the house or the company, throughout it all they were fantastic.As a first home buyer, I was completely unsure how the whole process of building a house would be and I had heard many complaints and bad stories from others... the best anyone could say was that is was a stressful experience. Emjay Homes were nothing short of amazing and my experience was completely positive. I dealt with Jodie and Matt throughout and they were both always very helpful, understanding and honest. Even though I could see they were always so busy, they would meet personally with me, answer a million questions, handled everything professionally and made it as least stressful as possible.The construction of the house was very prompt, usually completing each step sooner than the dates they had specified. They were open and honest with all costs and charges from the outset and prices were very reasonable. The quality of the house is fantastic, no cutting corners, a high standard of work throughout and if I receive one comment on my house it is that its obviously a quality build". I was first drawn to the company because of their practical and appealing floor plans and street appeal of the houses.. and the end result did not disappoint.I credit Emjay Homes with having the rare quality of being genuine and caring about their work/customers.. so important with such a big endeavour such as building a home! Even when we hit a minor misunderstanding at the end of development (and I feared it would be an issue and was going to be very stressful)

The experience you get designing and discussing your home directly with the builder is amazing. We have really enjoyed the process with Emjay and Josh and they have gone above and beyond to help us with council issues. Now that our build has started, things are moving so quickly and we can't wait to see the final product.

Absolutely cannot fault the build of our house or process.Being a first home buyer my wife & I were always stressed at the build stages and last minute decisions. Josh, Jodie, Keely & Jess always kept our feet grounded and had us at every step.We have seen other builds and friends of ours go through other major builders and cannot believe what they have been through and still end up with under par quality.This team at Emjay, there trades and contractors are next level and there finishes are next level.We can't thank you enough for putting a roof over our families head.We will be back and will always reccomened.

Great to deal with up until the build is complete. After that, the business does not want to know you. Terrible post build service and communication.It pains me to write this as our experience with Emjay before and throughout the build was fantastic. We love our new home.Aside from a very small number of defects (to be expected) I cannot fault the build. Emjay were well priced and have provided a lovely house.However, we have had an outstanding defect in the house that I have been trying to get resolved now for 11 months. Email and phone responses are pathetically lackluster and we still have had no resolution. There is just no after build care from any of the team.It is a shame, because we were considering building a second home with them but this has very much tarnished our overall experience.5 stars to Mike for the prebuild and build process.5 stars to the overall build and build quality Emjay provided.0 stars to the Emjay team for the terrible, unprofessional lack of care and communication post build completion.

Our first time building! Team at Emjay was great, in love with the house Emjay have built for us. Excellent inclusions that you will find you pay extra elsewhere. High ceilings, plumbing range, tiles, carpet, doors, appliances etc. The trades they have all do really quality tidy work, my partner works in the industry and said its one of the cleanest job sites he had seen.Have already recommended someone else to them who is also building with them now (they don’t know I recommended them though haha). Would recommend them to all my family and friends and anyone else looking for good honest builders.Thanks team Alex & Tara!

Initial communications with this company were great as we planned our new home and organised the colours etc that we had to.There were delays constantly throughout the build which subsequently meant we couldn't have some of the selections we had originally chosen MONTHS earlier.We have been trying to get them to finish some landscaping for the last month and are getting absolutely no response from them. The landscaping wasn't done by their landscaping team as they were rushing to complete the job before Christmas. Our neighbours have been trying to get them to fix a gutter (which needs to be re concreted - in conjunction with removing the old driveway and making that a true gutter again). The grass was laid and allowed to sit for a number of days without water until we mentioned about it which almost killed all the grass. They used contaminated top soil so now we have lots of nut grass to deal with. Drainage pipes have not been finished in the yard and still stick out of the ground, creating a potential tripping hazard.Their build time was 5 MONTHS past the original contracted practical completion stage (which is 6 months) the build took 11 MONTHS and this doesn't include the time taken for the selecting of colours etc which we did a couple of months prior to them actually starting the build.We had to seek legal advice due to the delays which they will drag out as long as possible. They will not pay liquidated damages that we were entitled to (this amounted to over $5000 due to the delays)It became apparent that they did not do a sparkle clean so we had to clean before moving in. The overall build quality is good, however what spoilt the experience was the general lack of communication in numerous areas, plus the delays.We have a couple of things that need fixing like a noisy fan and one of the flooring pieces starting to come up that we have not spoken to them about yet as they are currently not responding to any of our emails or phone calls or that of our neighbours.All our payments were made on time (contractually) when stages were complete. They will bill you before stages are completed (as outlined in the contract).If these issues are resolved in a timely manner we may revisit this review

Absolutely incompetent company, very low level of customer service. I had no luck building my house with this unprofessional company. Many mistakes were made during the construction, it is simply impossible to contact the office workers and the manager himself, only when it is necessary to transfer the payment for the construction. Communication with clients is at a very low level. Within 12 months, the drive way began to crack, I tried contact by email, sms and call the office workers and the manager, but there was no response. How can you do business like that. The company does not worry about its customers who pay them a salary.
