Indian Pacific Train

Booked this trip a year ago as a special treat, before visiting family after 4 years. We were so looking forward to it, as seen it on tv and YouTube. The experience was memorable for the wrong reasons.Coached to get on the train to a goods yard outside of Perth. Once boarded was asked what excursions off train we would like. Travelled for 2 hours then stopped; a derailment ahead was the problem. Back to the goods yard for an overnight stay! Woken at 4am with the workers in the goods yard. Set off again and now behind schedule. 45 min excursion to Kalgoorlie mine on a coach. Then travelled at speed all the way to Adelaide. No excursions there either!! Then got off train 4 hours away from Sydney and were coached there. Not what we paid for. Reimbursement for missed trips but it doesn’t make up for the disappointment and anger. We emailed Journey Beyond with our concerns about the trip straight away. Nothing in reply. Emailed again after 3 weeks so awaiting to see if they bother. Terrible customer relations.Our advice is don’t bother with this expensive and over rated experience.

The train and experience was terrific. The staff on the train were helpful friendly and did everything they could to ensure you enjoyed yourself.HOWEVER, the down side was trying to contact Beyond Travel regarding the trip. It took anything up to an hour and a half to get though by phone and if you had booked through a travel agent you did not get any further with your call. Don't bother emailing them as they did not respond to mine question.

Wow, wow, wow. What incredible service. The way it should be done. Many could take a leaf out of the book that these guys run by. My wife and I travelled in Platinum class from Sydney to Perth in June 2023. From the get go we were treated like we were the only people that needed to be served, it was absolutely sensational. The staff were so friendly and accommodating. Nothing was too difficult for them. The off train excursions in Cook and Rawlinna were highlights. We will definitely travel with Journey Beyond Rail again once the bank account recovers.
