Voices of Birralee

I have sung with Birralee for over 20 years. This amazing organisation has given me some incredible experiences including overseas tours and performances with world renowned artists and orchestras. It is such a joy making beautiful music under the expert direction of our conductors. VOB is a wonderful community and I have made life long friends. If you (or your kids) enjoy singing, making beautiful music and meeting wonderful people, you should join! Trust me - you’ll love it!

As a professional musician, I have been on a mission to seek out the highest quality music education programs for my son. As far a choral programs go in Brisbane, Voices of Birralee are the gold standard in my eyes.My son has enjoyed over 5 years singing and growing with the training choir of Voices of Birralee and has developed a deep love of singing and music.The educators that my son learns from are not only the highest quality choral pedagogues in the industry, they are also kind, patient, and understanding of my son's unique needs.My highest recommendations go to Voices of Birralee for anyone considering choral education for their children.

I have been singing with Birralee for over 10 years, and it truly is like having a second family. I have had many memories with this organisation (going overseas for Anzac tours, interstate for choral festivals, and other amazing projects) that have shaped me as a musician and person. It is something that has kept me grounded throughout all stages of adolescence, and they do so well to help young people connect and express themselves through music.The choirs are also just really great quality, with amazing staff and diverse repertoire. The conductors are some of the best in the country, that shape this 'Birralee sound' that is unlike any other choir that I have sung in.Paul and the team have also been extremely supportive of my early career as a composer, and I think this has a lot to say about how they are passionate about helping to nurture the next generation of musicians and composers.If you love to sing, I cannot recommend Birralee enough!!

I could not recommend Voices of Birralee more. Having spent almost 15 years singing in one of the signature choirs and having had the opportunity to sing with members of, or work with staff from, the other choirs, in my opinion this is one of the finest community musical organisations around. The conductors are the best choral conductors I have worked with and I have made lifelong friends within the choir. I have also been able to participate in both overseas and national choral tours, to sing with professional musicians and to make amazing music across a broad range of genres and in a variety of different languages. I do not hesitate to recommend Birralee to anyone who loves to sing!

I joined Birralee when I was 10 years old, and I am about to turn 21 this year! This organisation is fantastic in terms of musicianship AND community, and I have loved developing my music skills whilst also making lifelong friends. Through Birralee, I have been able to travel to Europe, represent Australia at the Commonwealth Games and billet with families all over the world. Nothing means more to me than this.

For over 5 years, we have been part of the Voices of Birralee family. My daughter started singing in Prep when we were exploring her interests. I am taken with the incredible singing of each performance. Birralee has developed my daughter's singing, musical understanding, and social skills that support performances in wonderful venues like The Queensland Symphony Orchestra, QPAC, and Southbank. I could not have wished for a better life experience and learning!

I’m beyond proud to have been a member of Voices of Birralee for 25 years. Starting as a Piccolo and now singing with the adult choir (Resonance). The long commitment of not just myself but countless members speaks volumes of the organisation. Not only does it provide amazing opportunities, but we are also so lucky to have the greatest leaders, choral conductors & accompanists who foster an environment to not just sing but learn and grow as a person. I’ve made memories and friendships that will last a lifetime and truly couldn’t picture life without Voices of Birralee. It is so deserving of the world renowned reputation it has!

My children were members of Birralee for many years. My son has wonderful friends he met in choir and both my children developed confidence through all the wonderful support from the conductors and the organisation. Birralee choirs are well known for their exquisite musicianship and joyful energy and the staff and volunteers are dedicated to improving lives through music.

I have been involved with Birralee for seven years now, both as a parent of a chorister in all the training choirs, and as a singer in their community choir. I have watched my daughter learn to sing with confidence and develop a love for music and singing throughout this time. She has developed a passion for music, which is due in no small part to her involvement with Birralee and the energy, enthusiasm, and high quality teaching she has received throughout each year and on tour. I have also experienced first hand this same energy and enthusiasm when singing with their community choir (aptly named Recycled). I have seen and experienced proof of the concept that no matter how good, or bad, a day you are having, singing - and singing with Birralee - always leaves you feeling better than you were. Birralee feels like family, and is a cherished part of life for both myself and my daughter.

I'm about to enter my fourteenth year singing with Voices of Birralee and I've loved every second of it! From the amazing music education I received in the training choirs to the incredible opportunities I've had in the signature choirs, everything Birralee offers is worth taking them up on. I look forward to continuing to sing with them until I can't sing anymore!!
