The BEST (value for money) Chinese I’ve ever had.We keep returning to BBQ One Wok Inn, and every single time I am astonished by the value, and the quality of all their dishes.Tonight we filled the table with 9 different (heavily portioned) dishes, with drinks - for a total of $138.Food quality and taste of is up there with the best Chinese food I’ve had across Australia (and I’ve had A LOT of Chinese food). Every dish is consistently perfectly balanced and presented.Service is seldom a standout in any Chinese restaurant, I would say BBQ One is no better or worse in this regard. No points lost here for me.The venue looks brand new, it’s very clean with a surprisingly quiet/relaxing ambiance. Will see you again next time!

Very authentic Cantonese restaurant. Love their service and food quality. The food portion were all very generous. We ordered one soup, one rice and two dishes but we ended up taking away two boxes of dishes lol.All dishes were well seasoned. We particularly love the soup because it tasted so rich. And the spare ribs with Peking sauce was very appetising with a bit sour and sweet taste.

(3.5 stars)A few doors down (175 Rowe Street) from the popular BBQ One Chinese barbecue shop, the same owners have created BBQ One Wok Inn. This long, galley-like space has a futuristic vibe, with red booths and a curved ceiling, plus a gold-edged glass box where the restaurant’s BBQ master resides. The menu is extensive, with the best value to be had on the banquets. On New Year’s Eve we embarked on the Christmas Set Menu B ($88), which feeds 2–3 people for that price. Kicking off with moist slices of agarwood smoked free-range chicken from the Cantonese BBQ, our table was quickly loaded up with bowls of steamed rice and simple soup. A generous serve of little neck clams stir-fried in XO sauce kept us busy slurping bivalves from their shells. We punctuated the clams with wasabi-spiked beef tenderloin hunks so fierce they made my eyes water. That said, I kept going back for more of this crazy-compelling blend of tender beef, crisp green beans and button mushrooms. Balance was restored by a heaped plate of water spinach seasoned with chilli oil and fermented bean curd. While we ate the clams in situ, we took home enough of the other dishes to cover lunch the next day. Even including BYO at $12 a bottle, this complete dinner (and lunch) for two people at a hundred bucks represents value-for-money you’re unlikely to find in the Sydney CBD.

4.6 - Dropped by this Cantonese restaurant on a public holiday and felt so welcomed by staff (English is no problem). Very helpful, and kind manner from both the person I ordered with, and the lady who served me. My food: Pig Hock Fermented Bean Curd Stir Noodle, came with some soup to pour on and tea at the table. Next to me were a few other single people eating their lunch also, and I loved that they brought reading materials and were left to enjoy their food and not hurried along. The extra surcharge applied wasn't too hefty and the atmosphere was bright and happy. I enjoyed listening to Cantonese conversations and the buzz from families and it reminded me of being in HK.

They asked for 50 cents per condiment dish of chilli sauce when I was helping myself to a couple small servings lol!! No other restaurant I know has asked for this! I woulda given at least a 4 stars review as most of the service is attentive & servings generous & the place is more spacious than its original shop a few doors away. But seriously, they should realise condiments to some ppl make the meal that much more unforgettable. I will bring my own chilli sauce next time so I can have as much as I like lol. What a stingy unhospitable mentality (or maybe it's just that one lady...at least she didn't charge me when I gave her back those 2 tiny condiment dishes..!! But the meal experience was not the same). My family & friends will be eating elsewhere more often now, which will cost them much more revenue than 50c

Upon visiting the restaurant, I noticed that the tables at the front were a bit small. However, this did not detract from the overall dining experience, as the food and taste were excellent. The decor was also very pleasing, with a clean and inviting atmosphere. It's worth noting that the restaurant tends to be quite busy during dinnertime, so it may be advisable to arrive early in order to secure a table.

Food is okay but service needs substantial improvement. Found out another strict rule for customers today: No change of seats. The male staff in black declined my seat change request though I was just asking to move to the table next to us. It wasn't even half a meter from us. He said seat change will confuse the person who brings up the dishes. What a convincing reason! I don't understand how a business can run successfully without hiring flexible people. Most importantly this was not the first time I've seen this guy arguing with customers. We started going to this restaurant when it first opened, we always got treated nicely by an older manager(also in black tee) whom we had met before at another restaurant. That's the reason we have been dinning there every now and then. I believe that some training on customer service will make BBQ One a better place.

This is a hectic place to eat in eastwood boasting traditional flavours I'm familiar with, growing up parents from Hong Kong. Presentation was good, some foods were a bit too salty like the duck. The pork stomach soup, which sounded a bit iffy was actually surprisingly delicious! Service was great! Food has room for improvement and still enjoyable.

We had a quick lunch on recent Saturday at his relatively new place in Eastwood and ordered their meal-set A for 2-3 people which costs $46.80. The set includes steam rice, a small plate of two choices of Cantonese style BBQ meats, a combination meats and tofu hot-pot dish and a stir-fried beef with veggies in oyster sauce (alternatively you can choose stir-fried beef in chilly sauce instead). All dishes are authentic Cantonese dishes and taste quite good and we like them all. The cha-siu BBQ pork are very good but the roast pork was just average. The hot-pot dish was generous with combination of beef, chicken, BBQ pork and prawns in addition to tofu. The stir-fried beef was also nicely prepared by a good Cantonese chef. For the set price, it was really good value for your money.Customer service from floor staff was average but reasonable for a suburb like Eastwood. The place is quite new and it shows in their nice and bright decoration. The seating is not too tight and ambience was reasonable. You can pay with variety of credit cards (V/MC/Amex) and pay the same additional surcharge of 2%, which is quite steep. However, since the prices on the menu are quite reasonable, we don't really mind.
