Cape Byron Rudolf Steiner School

Applied to this school for my son’s kindy about 2 years ago. When you try to call the school no one answers, when you email, you get an automated email response. ZERO human Interactions. After two years of waiting and having paid 200$+ in administration fees, we received an email with a link and a series of questions.Let me state that we were applying for our 5 year old to attend, not US! some of the questions were unnaturally invasive, such as “how did you feel if your birth plan didn’t go according to plan….” “ did you have a natural birth or not…” and more.Very little questions about our child. About him.I’ll tell you this , you’ve missed out on having one of the most gifted, sweet, kind, and interesting little boys around and thank god he’s been accepted into the living school Lismore.This is a cult! Pay attention to the other reviews. It’s about YOUR MONEY and societal status not the children.

Best check out my other reviews on Steiner schools. These schools can go awry, and are *not* all the same. Can be non-inclusive and non progressive. This school has very strange ideas about children and is not safe. One star.The new primary principal (2023) is an incredible human. Wish he had been there when we were there.Sadly, the “co-heads” as they were called in 2021 made appalling decisions, without accountability and should not be working with primary aged children due to immense harm they caused.This school has a volunteer school board, who are not experts in education nor inclusion. They have a groupthink issue as well as social polarisation, combined with external religiosity in attempting to be anthroposophical due to issues of not rocking the boat. A decent school board should have people willing to be in positions of dissent. Especially when there are young, vulnerable and innocent children’s lives at stake. And an honourable school board would not allow what this board allows.

Do not bother going on the waitlist here. I know of many families who ended up in litigation at this school due to poor policies and uneducated teaching practices. Plus the school grass is covered in ticks and the children are constantly bitten.

I have two children at cape byron Steiner school and it has been such a supportive, friendly and creative school for my children to attend.The staff go above and beyond to know each and every child not only in their class but in other classes. The beautiful and positive energy that goes into all the festivals, camps, carnivals and other extra curricular activities is so enriching for the children.The classes taught by the teachers are creative and meaningful. The music and art programs are next level with amazing teachers and specialist staff and assistants. It is a small school and can be difficult to get into but there seems to be more movement in the higher years.Highly recommend
