Santai Pottery and Art Studio

Always thought i sucked at artsy stuff, but was encouraged to give pottery a go. Super rewarding making something yourself! It unlocked some hidden creativity. Worth a visit! Very encouraging and supportive for first timers.

What can I say? Where do I start?I first started at Santai Pottery and Art Studio last November (2022) after seeing a post from another pottery group. I was a complete beginner when I started, but had always wanted to learn the art of pottery, it’s sort of a bucket list thing. If I don’t learn now then I never will.I have done two workshop classes with Sam teaching us coiling, which is hand building with clay. Sam is a great teacher/tutor and makes the time for each of her students to explain each process.I have also leant Kurinuki pottery with making several hand carved tea bowls. This art of pottery is very relaxing chipping at a block of clay. Ash was our tutor for the class and also has a great teaching technique.I am a regular visitor to the ‘self directed- studio time’ held on Tuesdays. A group of us called it ‘Tuesdays Pottery Club’I am now in the middle of a five week class learning the pottery wheel. Karen our tutor has patience of a saint, teaching us all. However I am really enjoying learning the wheel.Santai Pottery and Art Studio has a wonderful relaxing atmosphere to zen out and let one’s creativity evolve.I feel very privileged to have found such a great studio.

Had a great time doing a hand building class. Relaxed environment with a great instructor (thanks again Ash). Very happy with my bowl. Will definitely be back!

I hosted a kokedama workshop at this lovely art studio! It was a delight to work in. The moment I walked Inside It felt like i was on a retreat. The studio is clean and the facilities are perfect. Such a delight, I totally recommend you to come and experience the workshops and classes on offer in this wonderful studio.
