Update 30/11/22 Prices have gone up 15% or so.This place is rare, it has the Holy Trinity: Quality, Flavour and Value. Lovely service too.(Shonan Bento box, pork gyoza, Mixed salmon sushi/sashimi small and spicy fresh tuna roll. $77 for two, 1/2 roll taken home)Generous, delicious, fresh Japanese. I have to confess we eat here every week….plus BYO Wine.FYI Kitchen closes 8.30pmLast bookings 8ish.

We went here on the opening night after waiting patiently for it to open, happy to say that it surpassed our expectations so we're booked in to go back this week. The Bento Box was very fresh and a well balanced meal. We're really looking forward to seeing how the restaurant evolves over time.

Do yourself a favour and visit Shonan. Our favourite Japanese on the north shore, restaurant is always clean, friendly staff and delicious food. Have eaten here several times and brought many friends and family here and always had a great meal.

I come here occasionally and the food is delicious and very reasonably priced for a restaraunt. The hojicha tea is very tasty and the food and tea are always very hot, perfect. The restaraunt has a nice atmosphere, cozy, and the music is not too loud. Staff are very friendly. Probably a little Australian-influenced rather than traditional Japanese food but very tasty either way.

Great hidden gem in Roseville! Service was great, food came out quickly and was absolutely delicious. Highlight was the pork katsu curry!

Shonan is an excellent Japanese restaurant with a real family atmosphere. Food is freshly prepared and well-presented and reasonably priced. We'll be back.

We recently had a quick Saturday lunch at this place after seeing it for quite a while every time we pass Pacific Highway coming back from Chatswood. We ordered their kani cream korokke as entree, and chirashi don plus tonkatsu kare don as main dishes for two. All dishes were well prepared and quite authentic Japanese staples. We especially like the croquette (korokke) accompanied with a glass of Asahi Dry beer on the hot day. On second visit recently, we ordered tuna avocado sushi roll and kara-age bento set plus a matcha ice-cream daifuku as dessert. All items were good, especially the bento set was quite good value.The menu items are not many and consist of dishes you usually find in a casual, lunch time restaurant like sushi, teriyaki, bento, curry, etc. It would be nice if they can add similar stuff items on their menu in the future like tekka-don and omuraisu, etc. They also serve Japanese liquors like sake and beer brands such as Asahi, Kirin, etc. Prices on menu are competitive with other Japanese restaurants in North Shore area.The customer services from staff members are excellent as usual in a Japanese establishment. The place has perfect size for a casual, family restaurant in a quite suburb like Roseville. It is bright and well decorated. You can pay with credit cards with no surcharge if you spend more than $20, otherwise they will add 30 cents to your bill.

本当に良い!!Nice ambiance. Clean interior. Friendly and quick service. Reasonable price. Overall a nice experience for dine-in.What a neighborhood gem! Freshly made Japanese-style Teishokus with an Australian twist.The decor is seaside (probably to do with the name Shōnan which’s the coastal region of Kanagawa?) — very cute.ありがとうございました！(Note I came for a late lunch at 2pm, so it’s relatively quiet. It may be busier at other times.)Would love to come back.
