I’ve been going to lessons with Andrew for 9 months. He is friendly, easy to relate to and lets your interests drive what is taught. His knowledge across a range of genres is really impressive. There’s an easy balance between practice and theory in his lessons and he presents theory in an accessible, understandable way. The improvements I’ve made have given me a lot more confidence and provide good structure and motivation to play each week. I highly recommend Andrew to anyone at any level who loves or is interested in the guitar!

Andrew is extremely knowledgeable and teaches from a diverse range of musical genres. Andrew is an excellent teacher for guitar! He has taught me so much about technique, timing, and music theory, and he always provides great resources. Andrew has been teaching my 11 year old daughter guitar for 4 years. She's developed a real passion for her playing. Andrew discovered what type of music she loved and used it as a base for learning basic and then more complicated technique , which means she has never been bored or uninspired. I’ve been going to Andrew for lessons for 3 years. During this time I’ve gone from complete beginner to having the confidence to play with family and friends. I was introduced to Andrew by a professional musician who himself came to Andrew for lessons to improve his technique. I’ve been coming to Andrew for guitar lessons for 17 years now. Every lesson I learn something new and exciting. Andrew has introduced me to a variety of music, taught me new ways to think about music and fed my musical needs and desire to learn. After many frustrating attempts at trying to play guitar solo's I decided to finally get some lessons and contacted Andrew at Hobart Guitar Lessons, Andrew asked about my influences and genres of music I like and structured lessons around those and to say I'm totally blown away with the knowledge Andrew has passed on is an understatement not only after two months of lessons has my soloing advanced but my overall technique has improved greatly and really we've only just scratched the surface! I can't wait to see where my playing is at in another 12mths time, Andrew is amazing at communicating both the theory and practical aspect of learning to play guitar and his vast wealth of knowledge shines through in every lesson, if you want to make serious progress with your guitar playing then you really should start lessons with Andrew his relaxed and friendly demeanour along with his tailored to suit lessons are definitely the best option.

I've been taking my son to Andrew for a few months now, and he is loving the guitar lessons. He learns songs that he can play straight away, which is amazing for the confidence. My son also requests songs and Andrew writes the music based on my son's skills, on the spot.
